EVENTS & HAPPENINGS
Bike Building Fun
In October the Material Handling Branch Managers, Service Managers and Regional Managers attended the Material Handling Summit for Operational Excellence in Peawaukee, MI. It was two full days of intense training and great conversations! The team worked together to try their skill at assembling bikes for the Christmas Clearing Council whom will deliver those bikes to children in need this holiday season. It was a great time, filled with many laughs!
From Minnesota
The Tracy Lions Club started this project about 1.5 years ago and this week will deliver the 100th bed that they have built. These beds have been delivered within a 30-mile radius of Tracy to children without a bed. The Lions Club works with Southwest Health and Human Services and Women’s Rural Advocacy Program to provide beds to children. Our team sanded the cut pieces of wood - which will be turned into 45 beds. Some of us assembled cribs.
The Edgerton location built and installed this new kayak dock on the river for our community members to use and now they can get on and off the river safely with their kayaks.
Pipestone team worked with the Pipestone Economic Development Association to bring in three semi-truck loads of furniture and other household items to assist communities and families affected by the floods South of the MN border. Pipestone employees provided manpower to unload the semis into a warehouse for distribution.
Over to Iowa
Throughout South Dakota
The Gettysburg team helped the community clean up 3 city parks, 2 cemeteries and the golf course. Employees also helped with the setup of the Gettysburg community gardens which is a new addition to our community this year.
The Wagner team helped the Bon Homme Golf Course clean up after the flooding of the Golf Course.
The rains had the creek that runs through the golf course out of its banks leaving debris and flooding across the 9-hole course.
Corsica and Platte teams came together for the Community Impact Day. They did work at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Corsica.
As a group they removed a bunch of landscaping, trees, shrubs and bushes. They also had us remove landscaping rock in a different area and we put down new plastic and rocks on top of that.
And Across Virginia
The Freeman team helped support the 2024 Chislic Festival. The Chislic Festival draws thousands of visitors to the small community of Freeman, SD. Our team represented C & B proudly by doing the heavy lifting for the event by setting up Tents, Signs, Tables, and Chairs. We had members of the Sales, Service , and Parts team graciously volunteer for the event. We received many thanks for our help and support of this important community activity.
Chillhowie, VA
The Chilhowie team assisted the Glade Spring VA Fire Department with painting their building. We primed and painted the entire exterior of the fire department.
up Day. They worked in groups to unload refuse and junk from trailers, cars, and pickups. They helped with loading into dumpsters and packing for removal to the landfill.

Brooklynn Fiscus
Region 2 Sales Intern. Attends SDSU for Bachelor of Science /Agronomy
What has been the highlight of your internship?
The networking opportunities I have been given. I was able to meet so many unique customers and employees, and each had a part in making my internship a well-rounded experience.
What is something new you learned about the John Deere equipment industry?
George Martin, final project was to build and organize a ride and drive CCE training event. At the training event, other interns and staff started with a walk around of the features/benefits of John Deere skid steers. They did a comparative advantage next to a competitor machine. The other portion of the event was to drive through four different courses. The event was an awesome opportunity to get into the seat of the new equipment and understand why our customers should choose John Deere compact construction equipment. Please see a few photos below.
Brooklynn Fiscus
John Deere is always pushing to move forward and to improve in order to meet the needs of any kind of farm operation. The things that John Deere has achieved with equipment and technology innovation is truly astonishing.
What is your dream job?
My dream is to be in a position that allows me to use my skills to help farmers be as successful in their operations as they can be. I would like to achieve this by being involved in the sales or precision ag field.
A big congratulations to both Mike & Ken!
After 33 years of hard work and dedication, Mike Lantz retires from C & B Operations as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement. Lantz started his John Deere service technician career in 1991. He has been an integral part of the service team, contributing significantly to the department’s success, and is a respected individual in the shop and with his customers. Mike is looking forward to spending more time with his family. C & B is grateful for the dedication he has shown our team and our community during his career.
Ken Wimmer and his co-workers smile for a picture celebrating his retirement. He retired as a Service Tech from the Sibley store after close to 24 years of service.
Welcome to the C & B family, Kade!

More than just a forklift.
The Richmond team at C & B Material Handling recently secured a significant order from Brother International, providing them with 15 Linde Class I and II lifts, with potential for growth to over 100 forklifts nationwide. This achievement was made possible through the strong customer relationship built by CSR Danny McQuillen on the dock and door side, as well as the follow-up efforts of Branch Manager Ron Schreiber and RSM Chris McCauley. Their winning mindset and professional approach, which focused on highlighting C & B’s strengths rather than criticizing competitors, played a key role in securing the deal. Brother International cited C & B’s added value, professionalism, and fair approach as factors in their decision. This win reinforces C & B’s strategy to become a leader in material handling by showcasing the team’s dedication and customer focus.

I recently purchased a disc mower from your dealership in Wagner. I have a J.D. near my area. I have never felt more comfortable in any dealership as I did yours. If I am looking for equipment in the future you will be looked at first. Also hats off to Cody. He is a great dealer manager and I feel he is a team member you guys will have great success with. Please give him my regards.

Then we went to J.Crew (jcrew.com) and Madewell (madewell.com) to be greeted with the same warm welcome! ... Here again, they sang the praises of the entire Lynchburg team and mentioned how Brandon Jennings, our Service Manager, is their key contact for everything from lifts to Docks & Doors.
