What is cannabis and how does it work…revealed in this quick-start guide Cannabis 101 for people who are new to Cannabis, or simply want to learn more about this amazing plant

Cannabis Originally grown in the Central and South Asian regions, this flowering plant is comprised of three general species of cannabis, all which have their own set of unique qualities. Each different plant features different concentrations of cannabinoids. Marijuana and hemp come under the plant genus, Cannabis.

Marijuana This particular type of cannabis plant is grown and cultivated for its high concentration of THC, a psychoactive cannabinoid and the compound that gives users a ‘high’ when ingesting marijuana. There is a common misconception that all cannabis plants can get you high, when in fact it’s only the marijuana plant that has inherently high levels of THC.

One important point that needs to be understood is that marijuana also contains nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, that includes the second most abundant cannabinoid, CBD, which is the non-psychoactive part of the marijuana plant.

Hemp Hemp is a cannabis plant that is grown for its higher CBD concentration and unlike marijuana, hemp products such as oils and fibers are extracted from the seeds. Another characteristics that separates hemp from marijuana is that hemp only contains trace amounts of THC. While hemp oil will not make you high, it does contain non-psychoactive cannabinoids, one of which is CBD.

Industrial Hemp A collective term that is used to describe the hemp plant being grown on a massive scale. The end products from industrial hemp can be used for a variety of applications, including the production of paper or rope and even building construction to name just a few. Industrial hemp is also grown for its high CBD content and the resulting CBD hemp oil is primarily used as a nutritional supplement. Higher concentrations of hemp CBD have the ability to treat major diseases and medical conditions.

Cannabis Oil Oils extracted from any type of cannabis plant are known as cannabis oil. There are particular strains of cannabis that are bred just for their high THC levels and others primarily for their cannabidiol content. Before using cannabis oil you should identify your specific requirements and base your purchase on your need for either THC or CBD.

Hemp Oil As the name implies, hemp oil is an extract that comes from hemp plants. There are tons of applications for hemp oil, most of which are for external use only. Hemp oil can be found in soaps, hair care products and body lotions too. The hemp seeds that are not extracted into oil are processed into a powder form which are ideal dietary supplements and can be used in combination with food, drinks and as baking ingredients.

Marijuana Oil Extracted from cannabis strains that are high in THC, marijuana oil is psychoactive in nature and will deliver a high feeling apart from the other health benefits associated with THC. When buying marijuana oil, be sure to identify the source and if you only want to reap the health benefits of cannabinoids without the high, then hemp oil is best suited for your needs.

CBD Oil Cannabidiol oil is essentially extracted from the hemp plant. CBD is non-psychoactive and works opposite to THC. The human body is inherently equipped with an endocannabinoid system; a network of cell receptors that can identify and react to cannabinoids. Unlike 2/3

synthetic medications, our body easily recognizes cannabinoids, thus making it easy for CBD oils to unlock receptors in various parts of the body to induce desired results. CBD oils are extracted from the flowers, stalks, and leaves of the hemp plant. It comes in various forms and can be used both internally and externally.

CBD Oil With THC There are also CBD oils that contain small amounts of THC and are mostly refined from the marijuana plant and are predominantly bred for their high CBD levels. As cannabidiol is extracted from all-natural cannabis, it is considered non-toxic and is easily absorbed by the body even in high concentrations.
