What is a QSFP TRANSCEIVER?
A QSFP transceiver is a combination of transmitter and receiver for transmitting optical signals. The QSFP transceiver uses an electronic optical converter to translate the signals within the QSFP transceiver. For transmission, the QSFP transceiver uses LED's or laser. The reception of signals on QSFP transceivers is via a PIN or APD detector. QSFP transceivers can be used in various hardware systems such as switches, servers, HBA's, etc. QSFP transceivers usually have an LC duplex connection. Furthermore, QSFP transceivers are hot pluggable and thus can be used or removed during operation.
