Mountain Fun at Bogus Basin
Chances are, you've heard about Bogus Basin's new summer activities, but have you taken the time to explore the mountain?
N
ow that the summer heat has hit the valley, what are you doing to beat it? If you haven't made the trek to Bogus Basin to check out the new Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, as well as myriad other activities, now might be the time! Bogus, at an altitude of 5,790 feet, is generally at least 10 degrees cooler (and maybe more) than the valley floor more than 3,000 feet below. Plan 45 minutes to an hour to travel the 16.5 curvy miles to the main parking area.
Open for snow skiing since December of 1942, Bogus Basin celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2017 with management unveiling robust plans for a suite of summer activities to create a year 'round destination for adventure seekers. In addition to the Glade Runner, visitors can explore the area's new "Fun Zone" with a climbing wall, summer tubing hill, and a bungee trampoline. Add to that improved landscaping, comfy Adirondak chairs for lounging, the "Shafer Butte Mining Company" for gold panning, and a snack shack with food and drinks, and the area is perfect for a day of summer fun. Mountain bikers have enjoyed the cat tracks and trails for a few years, but had to pedal up before they could experience the down. Just last

summer, Bogus began offering chairlift rides on the Deerpoint #1 lift to get you and your bike to the top. The trails are perfect for a scenic hike, as well. Ride up, stroll down. The highlight for many is, of course, the coaster. Riders are seated, either alone or tandem, on a cart and pulled to the top of the course before heading down 4,330 feet of twists and turns through the trees. Drivers control speed by pressing the cart's handles forward for more speed or pulling back to slow. Prices for single rides begin at $15 and $25 for tandem. If you plan to spend the day and experience all the mountain has to offer, investigate the unlimited passes, which start at $39 for kids under 11 and $49 for 12 and up. f you need a break this summer but an exotic getaway is not in the cards, try a staycation. It’s the perfect way to say “time out” to the hustle and bustle of everyday life and doesn’t require passports
or luggage. Sound intriguing? Here are eight ways you can have the ultimate staycation: Pamper yourself. One of the best things about vacationing is an excuse to relax and pamper yourself in ways you probably wouldn’t do regularly. Book a massage or facial at your local spa, and get that “just got back from vacation” glow – you don’t have to tell anyone your secret! Go see a movie. Plan a good old-fashioned family movie night at a nearby theater. Splurge on your favorite movie snacks, kick back, relax, and be entertained!
Explore local attractions. Many times we focus so much on leaving home to explore new places, we forget how many great options there are in our own back yards. Pick a museum, park, or other local attraction near home and find out what’s just beyond your front door! Throw a cocktail party. Invite your friends over for a fun night of drinks, appetizers, and games. You can even have a “vacation” theme to your party (think frozen margaritas, pina coladas, and lots of fresh fruit). Throw on some reggae music and, voila, you might as well be on an island! Get crafty. Is there a special project you’ve been thinking about doing but just

ho doesn't love a pizza? Crafting your pies at home can make for a fun time for family and friends. Purchase or make your favorite dough, prepare it according to directions, give everyone a blob of it to shape the way they wish (flatten to about 1/4" thick), top with marinara, alfredo, or simple olive oil, and go to town with whatever toppings strike their fancy. Try one of our favorites tonight!
EVERYTHING-WE-HAVE-IN-THE-FRIDGE PIZZA Quality olive oil Minced garlic Assorted vegetables & meats
Fresh mozzarella Italian seasoning Fresh rosemary
DIRECTIONS: Pre-heat grill & pizza stone to 400-450o. Carefully place rolled-out dough on stone & cook 3-4 minutes. Brush with olive oil, add garlic & all desired toppings. Top with mozzarella & Italian seasoning or fresh rosemary. Cook 15-20 minutes, watching closely. Serve immediately. (Try drizzling balsamic vinegar lightly over the top for added flavor.) Whether you use a stone or place the pizza directly on the grill, our agents agree that pre-heating the grill is a must. If a stone is used, pre-heat that, as well. If no stone is used, be sure brush the "down side" of the crust with oil to prevent sticking. Some folks oil the grill itself, but take care. According to grilling websites, oiling the grill may cause smoking, affecting the flavor of your food.

DIRECTIONS: Pre-heat grill to about 550o. Flatten dough, carefully oil the grill, & place dough directly on it for 1-2 minutes until the dough is set. Turn dough over & brush liberally with olive oil. Add prosciutto & cheeses. Cook for 2-4 more minutes, checking the bottom to make sure grill marks are developing, but the dough is not burning. Turn off grill, but let pizza continue to cook (with the lid closed) 2-3 more minutes. Remove from grill, add fresh arugula, & drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Slice & serve.
TACO PIZZA 1/2 to 1 c. salsa 1 can refried beans 1/2 to 1 c. mixed cheese, grated Ground beef, browned with taco seasoning

DIRECTIONS: Pre-heat grill & pizza stone to 350-400o. Mix salsa & refried beans & spread on flattened crust. Add ground beef, cheese, peppers, & olives. Ada County Homes Sold Faster, and For More $ in June
Market time in Ada County is the lowest it's been since 2004.

he combination of more new homes selling at higher prices pushed Ada County’s overall median sales price up to $324,647 in June 2018 — another record, but one that was expected. We typically see the highest prices of the year recorded in June or July, and as new homes sales have increased — and are selling at much higher prices than existing homes due to rising construction costs — it’s not surprising that the data is reflecting an even bigger bump this June. The median sales price for new homes in Ada County reached $393,705 in June 2018, while existing homes landed at a median sales price of $299,900. Both were records for their respective segments. The overall median sales price (for new and existing home sales combined) has been pulled up much faster than in previous years due to an increase in the number of new home sales and an average difference of $90,000 between
