Alumni Highlight

Cassidy Dennison Class of 2023

As a graduate of the CBU Organizational Leadership master’s program, I am grateful for the opportunity to integrate my faith with my career aspirations. This program equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and leadership qualities necessary to positively impact my workplace and community while remaining rooted in my Christian values.

The program’s curriculum gave me a deep understanding of leadership theories, organizational behavior, strategic planning, and change management, all within a Christian worldview. I learned to apply biblical principles to business practices, leading with integrity, compassion, and a servant’s heart.

This program’s faculty members were exceptional experts in their respective fields and committed to mentor me academically and spiritually. Their guidance and encouragement helped me grow in my faith and develop a deeper understanding of how to integrate my faith with my work They were always accessible, supportive, and dedicated to their student’s success, which helped me achieve my career goals.

Upon graduation, Deloitte, one of the leading global consulting firms, immediately recognized my qualifications and leadership abilities. I was offered an exciting role that perfectly matched my skill set, where I have been able to apply the skills and knowledge I gained in the program to make a positive impact on clients and colleagues. I am grateful for the opportunity to live out my faith in the workplace and make a difference in the lives of others.

Faculty Spotlight

I have always been interested and passionate about business and management. When I was approaching graduation with my MBA, I realized that although I had many years (and two degrees) of studying management, I hadn’t learned about leading! I soon applied and was accepted into a doctorate in organizational leadership program, and my passion for leadership flourished.

My first career was in corporate roles for nearly 20 years. I achieved my dream of transitioning to training and teaching about 10 years ago. CBU allows me to live my purpose and guide students as they learn and earn their degrees so that they may achieve their professional aspirations.

My scholarly interests include mindful leadership because, in my consulting and coaching experience, I have witnessed so many leaders struggling to maintain wellness for themselves and those they serve. I am also an advocate of creating opportunities for diversity and inclusion in formal leadership roles. Our biases and historic experiences hurt our ability to recognize diverse leaders. I hope my research and scholarship can help increase awareness in these areas.

I believe that leadership is an important capability that can be leveraged in all aspects of our lives. As parents, family members, employees, or at play, understanding leadership and followership can help us navigate life in a way that serves and helps those around us.
