First, find fabrics and trims you love and have a workroom sew appropriate sized panels. Or, purchase pre-made bed draperies at a bedding store. This will add instant architecture and style. (Hint: washable fabrics from Sunbrella plus Velcro make it a snap.) Second, forget uncomfortable wood headboards and old, creaky iron beds. Get an extra-high upholstered headboard which caresses you into the space. Third, accessorize the bed with an array of pillows in different shapes and sizes. And don’t be afraid to change it up often to suit your particular mood. Fourth, find high thread count sheets (splurge a bit!) and purchase a super soft coverlet in a contrasting color or pattern. Have one made or select from hundreds to chose from in department and outlet stores. In fact, buy several to rotate and instantly change the look. Last, accent the space with a sensuous throw blanket. Think fabric, fur, or an exquisitely woven one in chenille. Viola! Quick, easy and romantic.
