OPENING RECEPTION Stop by our headquarters at the Depot on our opening day and say “hello”! We’ll have snacks and drinks and you can mingle with Festival staff and leaders. We’ll answer questions and help you register for events. The Blossom Boutique will be open so you can make your purchases early (t-shirts sell out fast!). MEMBER APPRECIATION PARTY* Come mingle with Festival leaders, staff, and Board of Directors, and enjoy appetizers and cocktails. A special “wildflower whisperer” will make an appearance, sharing stories and folklore about the wildflowers. Botanical Indulgence: A Happy Hour Walking Tour Level: Beginner Length: 2 miles oflevel, paved walking We’ll stroll among the gardens of Crested Butte and take a tour through a few of Crested Butte’s food and drink establishments that have embraced the use of fresh and locally sourced botanicals in their concoctions. Cocktailing Into the Wild Learn how to be a bartender in your own backyard. Rooted Apothecary’s Briana Wiles will share her secrets to making simple syrups, salts, sugars, elixirs, cordials and bitters all inspired and flavored with aromatics of nature. You’ll create cocktails based on your personal preference for flavors and tastes. Wild plantinfused spirits of tequila, Montanya rum, vodka, and more will be offered for mixing. Garden Tour, Wine, & Chocolate Level: Beginner Length: 2 miles oflevel, paved walking Enjoy a guided tour of our local gardens and their lovely flowers. Gardens to Glass Become your own mixologist and dazzle your family and guests with customcrafted cocktails and tapas. Herbal Home Medicine Chest Workshop Join this fun and creative class and learn how to make and use safe, effective herbal remedies for help with everything from common maladies to boosting health. Discover simple home remedies created from easy-to-find ingredients. We’ll make and take home immune-boosting fire cider, a healing skin salve, and a soothing digestive tea to get you started. Medicinal Plants of the Mountains Level: Advanced Beginner –Intermediate Length: 3-4 miles with some rocky and steep terrain The wildflowers along the Horse Ranch Park trail are not only beautiful, many have served as the grocery store and pharmacy for earlier people and are still used today. Stalking the Wild Edible Workshop & Lunch Experience the fun and benefits of eating on the wild side! Discover how to locate, identify, harvest and prepare wild edibles. We’ll start with an herb walk to identify common edible plants, then make tasty teas, nutritious salads, and side dishes. We’ll end with a delicious, vegetarian, wild-foods lunch. The Chef’s Pantry - Preserving Summer’s Bounty Discover all the ways to use and preserve the bounty of summer. We’ll cover how to harvest and dry herbs and use them in pestos, butters, marinated cheeses, vinegars, and seasoning blends. Learn how to candy herbs, edible flowers, and citrus peel for delicious garnishes. Put some wow in your pantry.
