The critical ontology of ourselves has to be considered not, certainly, as a theory, a doctrine, nor even as a permanent body of knowledge that is accumulating; it has to be conceived as an attitude, an ethos, a philosophical life in which the critique of what we are is at one and the same time the historical analysis of the limits that are imposed on us and an experiment with the possibility of going beyond them.

- Michel Foucault

01 ARCADES PROJECT IN 21st CENTURY Date: Oct. 2021-Dec. 2021 Status: individual work Tutor: Yu Chun Tsai

This project draws on Benjamin's Arcade Project to describe the current phenomenon of consumerism in the 21st century and to explore the development of consumer space. In the 19th century, consumer space was created to host the act of consumption; in the 21st century, space has developed into a consumer good to be consumed. The confrontation between consumer space and public space has always existed in the site of the Liuyun community, and it is worth exploring what the space of the community should be developed into in the future.

PLAYGROUND

16:00-18:00 Near the school

Site Plan

Playround was initially set up to provide a safe space for children to play. As the confrontation between consumer space and public space comes to its final stage, playgrounds can be places of consumption or free respite at different times of the day.

9:00-14:00 On the street

CITY HALL Site Plan

Evolving from a community event centre, the City Hall accommodates community events as well as events in the city, for example the venue can be hired out for other functions. Throughout the large space there are various spaces for two to three people to interact as well as spaces for one person to be alone.

MARKETPLACE A market that can carry the daily shopping needs of residents can also be operated in partnership with neighbouring businesses, hosting events such as creative fair and integrating consumer space with public space.

Site Plan

OUTDOOR STAIRCASES

Site Plan The site originally contained many late additions of vertical lifts, and if vertical transportation and commerce are combined, it allows the commercial tenants t o t a ke re s p o n s i b i l i t y fo r the maintenance of the facility in addition to the convenience offered by the outdoor staircase, achieving a sustainable design.

Nanshan

The inspiration for this project came from a book about the effects of residential segregation in Beijing - The Folding Beijing. After reading the novel, I also began to observe the phenomenon of class differentiation in Shenzhen. Shenzhen, as a special administrative region of China, attracts tens of thousands of foreigners to the city every day. Everyone who comes here has a dream, and then is repeatedly thwarted in their future lives. This invisible barrier is slowly solidifying since the opening up of the city, and will become increasingly visible in the urban space. As a Bosanova of Shenzhen, this project is a hypothetical project that takes the Nanshan District of Shenzhen as an experimental object to materialize the future class barriers in Shenzhen, assuming that the disparity between the rich and the poor in Shenzhen will continue to increase in the future, what will the shape of Shenzhen's urban space look like in the future?

03 CAMPUS BOUNDARY Date: Feb. 2021-Mar. 2021 Status: Academic Tutor: Hui Xu

The sudden outbreak of the epidemic at the beginning of the 20th saw the emergency closure of schools. And what should be the correct response to campus space in the face of such changes, when the campus is such an important part of the city, both in terms of spatial scale and social functional role? This project discusses the possibilities of campus boundaries in the context of the post-epidemic era, based on Kisho Kurokawa's 'symbiosis'.

Academic work (Personal) 2021 Start this discussion on the topic of duality as well as plurality by discovering my feelings of disgust towards various dualistic events in my life. Using the MBTI personality test as an entry point, it will get people thinking about their uniqueness by recording students taking the fake test and post-interviewing them.

What am I? The body substance which I can see with my eyes and feel with my hands. Or am I this realization, this greater understanding which dwells within it, yet expands through the universe outside; a part of all existence, powerless but without need for power; immersed in solitude, yet in contact with all creation.

(熹酱日报记者报,下简称熹) C:Hello Professor Wu, I heard that you are very concerned about the relationship between the times and art, do you have any opinion on the "Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts incident"?

Prof. Wu: As the saying goes, "Learn mathematics, science and chemistry well and you will not be afraid to go anywhere." I believe this slogan came about because the development of the country cannot be separated from science and technology, so education in science and technology is particularly important. However, it is also because of this argument that strange values emerge, and when there are always voices around you in junior high and high school telling you that "learning art is not a proper job, that is taking shortcuts", it reinforces this incorrect value.

It is also because of this change in my identity that I feel more aware of how humanities and social sciences can shape a person, and I am eager to convey the importance of humanities to everyone.

I have experienced the transition from a science student to an art student. I studied science in high school, and before the division of arts and science in my first year of high school, I could hear from time to time from my class teacher that "only dregs read arts", so if dregs read arts, then what are those who read art? Therefore, in my sophomore year of high school, I decided to take the path of art students, I did not go easy, one side to take care of art, the other side also have to take care of culture, to prove to the class teacher that I

take the path of art because I love, not escape from bad grades.

Ways of Seeing

I also believe that when society has reached a certain stage of development, when materials are abundant, when society can provide all the resources and choices, people will begin to think about the answer to the meaning of life. In my opinion, this answer cannot be obtained from mathematics and science; when you are confused, do not know what you like, what to do in the future, Su Shi can tell you "(I don`t know how to translate it.)" However, the formula cannot.

Xi: Professor Wu, finally I have a chance to see your work. Can you give us a brief introduction? Professor Wu: nice to see you again. The inspiration for the phrase "be yourself" came from a video I saw in a class [Be a Lady They Said], where society's public opinion makes everyone do this, do that,

accomplish this or that, but no one makes everyone be themselves (of course). Now there are slowly starting to emerge such voices).

Why do I use this element to combine into my visual expression (here's a little story): when I shared this material with a classmate before, that classmate exclaimed after seeing a same-sex couple in the material: "How do you have this kind of thing in your material! "

【Be a Lady They Said】,

为什么用这个元素来组合成我的视觉表 达( 这 里 有 一 个 小 故 事 ): 之 前 将 这 个 素 材 分 享 给 同 学 的 时 候, 那 位 同 学 看 到 素 材 里 有 一 对 同 性 couple 后, 惊 呼:” 你 的 素 材 里 怎 么 有 这 种 东 西!“ I thought to myself, "Reality is so diverse, do we have to unify the material (the material is so diverse, and there are still people who demand unification in reality). The villains in the material are all different, each with their own characteristics, why do some people in reality have to control others, have to let others live as the norm in it? So why not use this diverse material to create a poster!
