This is a really exciting time for you! The guide will have all of the freshers events we have on, a map of the area and the important landmarks highlighted.

Enjoy the rest of your summer! From all of the Students’ Union, we look forward to meeting you all. 3

YOUR STUDENTS’ UNION

President Bethany Hanley

VP - Activities Chloe Leeson

VP SU Officer Adele Catchpole

The CCAD Students’ Union (SU) is run by a team of dedicated elected Student Officers and supported by the staff. Our mission is to enhance the student experience, through a student led voice, which represents the views and interests of our entire student body. The CCAD SU offers a range of social events and activities, including Live Lounges, festivals and quiz nights. Getting involved with the SU is a brilliant way to meet new people and develop new skills.

representing you STUDENT REPS, SU ELECTIONS & SU CLUBS & SOCIETIES

Each Programme and level elect their own Student Reps, who provide a valuable link to College staff, allowing for suggestions, opinions and thoughts of the students to be heard and addressed. Elected Student Reps are provided with training, guidance and opportunities to represent their fellow students in numerous ways. Each spring, Student Union elections are held to give all students the opportunity to run for various officer roles within the Students’ Union. The CCAD SU encourages students to set up new clubs and societies, as they are a great way for students to share common interests and meet new people. If you’ve got an interest and want to get other students involved, we can help you get a club or society up and running and we provide continuous support.

HARTLEPOOL

Hartlepool is a vibrant coastal town. Our campus is situated close to the town centre, which offers a range of shops, places to eat and drink, as well as a large cinema complex. The town offers the largest marina in the North East - the setting for superb restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs offering a varied selection of food and drinks.

THE COLLEGE

Cleveland College of Art & Design is split across two sites. Our Green Lane Campus is situated in the neighbouring town of Middlesbrough, offering Further Education courses. Our Hartlepool campus is home to our HE degree programmes. We have many outstanding facilities, including a host of Mac suites, various design, print and production studios, as well as a friendly library resource. The Arts CafÊ offers a range of delicious food at student friendly prices! We also run an annual Degree show, showcasing our talented students’ work.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ZACH WRIGHTSON, COSTUME INTERPRETATION WITH DESIGN

Since September I have enjoyed meeting a range of different people in and outside of college. I would recommend coming to the college for this reason; it’s easy to make connections with students who are on different courses, it’s also great that students can do short courses too. The facilities at the college are good as there is a range of different machines allowing students to creative innovative pieces. There is great support from staff for students and the technicians are friendly, supportive and easy to approach. Over the past year I have learned skills specific to my course which will help me throughout my career and gaining communication skills through interacting with other students.

So far at CCAD I have enjoyed making new friends and having the privilege of having my own studio space & other facilities. I would strongly recommend the computer facilities as they kept up to date and there are also a variety of computers like Mac’s and PC’s for different tasks. CCAD has lived up to my expectations and gone beyond because of the advice and demonstrations you receive in your classes, which leads to the fact that the quality of teaching is superb. The facilities in the different buildings are at industry standard and give you a taste of what it is like in a professional environment. I have gained a very good amount of knowledge and skills this year because of the advice of staff making me improve my skill set.

This past year I’ve really enjoyed living somewhere different and meeting new people, CCAD offers lots of different arts courses so this has also been nice to experience. My course has lived up to my expectations, it has a lot of different elements to offer so I’m really pleased with it and the facilities available are to a great standard. One of my favourite skills I’ve learned over the past year has been how to use Photoshop and Illustrator, which I was taught about in my design class.
