GOLDTONE MUSEUM SET EDWARD S. CURTIS’ THE NORTH AMERICAN INDIAN
Curtis Centennial Editions is proud to present an historic limited edition printing of Edward S. Curtis’ most beautiful and evocative images of North American Indians. Produced in the extraordinary Goldtone™ process, this publication comprises twenty of Edward S. Curtis’ most sought-after images, printed from Curtis’ original, vintage glass-plate negatives. Years of research and development have led to the creation of stunning, archival, contemporary Goldtones. Thus, more than one hundred years after Curtis began his magnum opus, Curtis Centennial Editions has succeeded in reviving this unique American treasure for a new audience of discerning collectors. In 1998 when we began the Goldtone printing project we created five complete sets of the images for sale to museums. We are now ready to realease our first one of these museum sets, measuring 11” x 14” in size.
“The ordinary photographic print, however good, lacks depth and translucency. We all know how beautiful are the stones and pebbles in the limpid brook of the forest, yet when we take the same iridescent pebbles from the water and dry them they are dull and lifeless; so it is with the orthodox photographic print, but in the Goldtones all the translucency is retained and they are as full of life and sparkle as an opal. —Edward S. Curtis
