ello again, everyone. Wow, where has this summer gone? When we last talked in May, the kids were just leaving for break and, now as we enter September, they are returning to school. I hope your summer was safe and filled with family time. The summer has been busy here at Cleveland as well, starting with our Founder’s Day event on June 13. Based upon the success of this event, we’ve decided to hold it annually, providing a break from the day-to-day grind of the normal curriculum and offering an alternative learning experience for our students. We are very fortunate and thankful to have local doctors willing to take time out of their busy schedule and present to our students on a variety of topics related to the business side of chiropractic practice. Our keynote speaker for the day was Dr. Louis Sportelli. What a treat to listen to such a dynamic and iconic representative of the Vice President of Alumni Relations chiropractic profession. We are already looking forward to next year’s event, set for June 12. If you are interested in participating, let us know. In other College news, Aug. 16 was a banner day for 36 students as they completed their arduous journey and we celebrated their accomplishments at our commencement ceremony. Congratulations to them as they embark on their new careers. I am absolutely positive they are going to love what they do as they change people’s lives through chiropractic! On a personal note, I continue to hit the road to catch up with alums. I hosted events for our alums in Hays, Kan., on July 27; LaVista, Neb., on Aug. 16-17; and in Osage Beach, Mo., on Aug. 23. I truly enjoy visiting with our grads and hearing about their lives and practices and sharing memories of their time at Cleveland. Let me know if I can host an event in your area. On the horizon is our annual Homecoming celebration. We are raring to go Oct. 11-13. You should have already received a flyer providing details for “Your Road Ahead” – a weekend of continuing education and special events. Visit cleveland.edu to register online. Save the dates Feb. 28 to March 2, 2014, as we launch what we predict will be an annual event – a 12-hour continuing education seminar in Las Vegas sponsored by the Alumni Association! Remember to let us know what is going on in your lives and practices, so that we can share your news. As always, be safe and be well! q
