Share a Picnic
What You Need:
Toy food or real food, a picnic basket, and a blanket
What You Do:
Gather the picnic basket and blanket.
Say, “Let’s have a little picnic together. I have the picnic basket and blanket. Can you help me find food for our picnic?” (Guide your child to find toy or real food and put it in the basket for your mini picnic.)
Say, “Let’s pick a spot to have our picnic. (Choose a spot outside or inside and spread out the blanket.) Let’s have a seat so we can share and have a picnic with each other!” (Pull out each item, one at a time, and thank them for sharing.)
Say, “In today’s Bible story, more people believed that Jesus is alive and they became the very first church! The church is not a building. It’s the people! People like you and me. And Jesus wants the people who are the church to, “Love!” The first church loved each other and shared everything they had with each other, including their food! Just like we are doing now. We can all be the church and love because Jesus is alive!
Prayer
“Dear God, thank You for all of the people who follow Jesus and make up the Church. Please help the Church love one another the way Jesus loves us. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
