Welcome to Thrive 2019! I am so glad you chose to be here this weekend. Whether this is your first time at Thrive, or you have attended for years, I want you to know how excited I am that you said yes! No matter your story or background, you are welcomed here and our team has prayed for you by name. I believe God has you at Thrive for a reason, and he will meet you where you are. Our theme is Just Be. In a life full of constant distractions and demands, we will talk about what it means to Just Be Still, and focus our hearts and minds on God. In the second session, Just Be You, we will learn about being who God made you to be and resting in that, not comparing yourself to someone or striving to be someone you are not. My prayer is that you acknowledge your God-given gifts and qualities, and that you learn to love yourself, because God loves you more than you can ever imagine. We will end with Just Be Brave. What is God asking you to do that may be uncomfortable, scary, or overwhelming? One of my favorite things about God is this promise: he is with you. No matter what God is asking you to do, you don’t go alone, because God goes before you, prepares you for what’s ahead, and never leaves you (Deuteronomy 31:8). If you have any questions throughout the weekend or if there’s anything we can do to enhance your experience, please don’t hesitate to ask. We want to come alongside you in this journey and help you thrive in every area of your life. I hope your soul is refreshed and you leave knowing you can just be still, be you, and be brave... because God is with you!

Mykaila Norton Director of Women’s Ministry

Angie is married to Todd Smith, lead singer of the Christian group Selah, and mom to five daughters. In 2008, the Smiths received news that their fourth daughter, Audrey, would not survive, and Angie began blogging as a means of communication with friends and family during those difficult days. Angie now writes Bible studies and books, and teaches around the country, but the heart of her ministry is the same as when her fingers typed the very first words on her blog years ago: Angie’s greatest passion is to make the Bible feel accessible and relevant, and to encourage others in their faith journey. Angie holds a Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology from Vanderbilt University and is a best-selling author of multiple adult and children’s books. She, Todd, and their house full of daughters live in Nashville, Tennessee.

Table Talk: Session One What do you think it means to stand still?

Have you ever had an experience where you saw God work while you stood still? When you are in a season of waiting, how do you combat the fear that he won’t come through the way you hope he will? Are there people in your life who do this well? What have you learned by watching them What can you specifically do in your life to move toward trusting God more?

Table Talk: Session Two We often know how to answer questions like “Who does God think you are?” with canned answers, but we don’t necessarily believe them. What is one of the hardest things to believe God loves about you? What are things in your life (people, situations, choices) that interfere with believing you are who he says you are? Out of this list, which word do you most identify with: unable, unworthy, unseen, unlovable, or unaccepted? Who or what has led you to believe that about yourself? What are some ways you can actively do to fight against that lie?

Misconceptions about sexuality abound, in our culture and the church. Let’s tear down the deception and talk about God’s design for sexuality. Learn how to safely build relationships, navigate different seasons (from singleness to parenthood to post-menopause), and discover a deeper understanding of what it means to protect and honor our God-given sexuality.

Learn how to rest in Godâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s love, interpret every experience through a lens of grace, and take steps toward greater emotional and spiritual freedom. Jennifer shares her story of transformation from a hopeless, homeless teenager to a wife, mother, and ministry leader. Enjoy an experiential art exercise, practice breathing techniques, and walk away with a better understanding of the blessings God has for us in stillness.

Responding creatively to God’s love letters helps us spend more time in the scriptures, deepening our biblical knowledge and growing our relationship with him. Learn a technique that will help you hide God’s Word in your heart: Bible journaling. Practice a few fail-safe journaling methods in your Bible or notebook. No artistic talent required.

Featuring Special Guest Jamie Ivey PODCASTER | AUTHOR | SPEAKER This Mother’s Day at CCC, we want to recognize women and the vital role they play in our lives! Jamie Ivey believes we are all on this journey of life together and we need each other to get to the end. Through her podcast, The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey, and blog, she takes a raw and intimate approach to her speaking and writing. Jamie’s prayer and hope is for God to use her words to encourage and show others that they are not alone, while constantly pointing them to Jesus. She is mother to four kids and wife to Aaron. Counseling resources include pastoral, financial, and professional counseling through CityCare. PRAYER AND MISSIONS Prayer is foundational in the life of a believer. Join a group of women praying for missionaries, needs in the local church, or those who are hurting. The Monday AM Prayer Group, Alliance Women, and the Prayer Shawl Ministry are several venues for gathering together as women to pray.
