This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church, or download it at HomeFrontMag.com. Younger Kids

Did You Know?

Your younger child is developing critical-thinking skills and may disagree or even criticize his parents when he thinks he’s not being heard. Taking time to listen to your child express his opinion may help him to be more open to hearing yours.

• The people who built the tower of Babel worshipped the sun, moon, and stars. • God was angry about their efforts to build the tower, so He confused their language and “scattered them over the face of the whole earth” (Genesis 11:9).

Older Kids Your older child is beginning to become more goal-oriented and is thinking about the future. Spend time talking with her about her future plans and how her faith may shape her future.

• Abram’s family and nation were, no doubt, also devoted to various gods and goddesses—just like the people of Babel. • God later changed Abram’s name to Abraham.

Remember Verse The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. Isaiah 40:28

Teachable Moments After reading Genesis 12:1–8, discuss the following together: • What did God tell Abram to do? • What promises did God make to Abram? • How can we worship God?
