ELEMENTARY KIDS & FAMILIES date:
This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church, or download it at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
1.12 God Is Almighty
Younger Kids
Did You Know?
Your younger child will benefit as you model simple prayers that she can emulate. Be intentional about spending time praying with and for your child.
• “Lord Almighty” is translated Jehovah Tsaba, which means “Lord of Hosts.” • This phrase in the Hebrew language describes a person who would go first or “before” into battle and fight for you— someone mighty, someone you’d want to follow.
Older Kids Your older child may begin to notice God’s answers to prayer. As you pray with your child, discuss the ways that you see God’s faithfulness in answered prayer.
• At the time of her prayer, Hannah had no idea how God would answer her anguished cries. • God gave Hannah the child for whom she had prayed, and that child eventually led Israel into a new era in which godly leaders modeled obedience to God.
