ELEMENTARY/ KIDS & FAMILIES date:

This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or download at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Younger Kids

Did You Know? • To a first-century audience, riding on a donkey represented humility and peace. • In contrast, riding on a horse represented status and power. It also represented war. Military leaders, especially those in the Roman army, rode on horseback. • Contrary to prophecy in Zechariah 9:9, which described the Messiah as “lowly and riding on a donkey,” the Israelites yearned for God to send a great king who would destroy their enemies in war. • In Revelation 19, we see a picture of our Savior riding on a white horse. In the Roman world, white symbolized victory. God will ultimately have victory and reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

Your younger child is egocentric and may have a hard time understanding why others don’t think or feel the way he does. He may need to be reminded to be respectful of the likes and dislikes of his friends, even if he doesn’t agree with them.

Older Kids Your older child cares deeply for friends and family members and may have a great concern for those who don’t share her faith. Pray with your child for those in her circle who don’t know Jesus.

Teachable Moments

Remember Verse for the environment of IDENTITY

After reading Revelation 19:11–16; 21:1–7, 10–23, discuss the following together: • What kinds of things does God say will happen in heaven?

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

• Why will there be no sun or moon in heaven? • How do you know Jesus will return?
