ELEMENTARY KIDS & FAMILIES

Younger Kids

Did You Know?

date:

This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them.

• Priscilla and Aquila were forced to leave their home when Emperor Claudius expelled all the Jews from Rome in AD 49.

For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or access the app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.

• After connecting with Paul in Corinth, Priscilla and Aquila traveled with him to Ephesus.

God Calls Us to Join with Him Part of The Big God Story Acts 18

While in Corinth, Paul meets a Jew named Aquila, who has recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla. The three work together as tentmakers and share the gospel.

Older Kids

• Priscilla and Aquila spent time teaching Apollos, an eloquent speaker who lacked some Christian training. • God used Priscilla and Aquila to encourage and strengthen the early church.

Remember Verse for the environment of OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE

Your child needs to be exposed to a variety of new experiences and activities. As you nudge your child out of her comfort zone this week, remind her God wants us to grow and learn so we can be prepared to join in His work. To prepare for this work, allow your child to tell another family member what she knows to be true about God.

Your child is learning that the world is much bigger than his own city or even country. This week, encourage your child to learn about some of the ways the cause of Christ is being spread around the globe. Help him research and brainstorm ways to support the spread of the gospel.

Teachable Moments

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

After reading Scripture, discuss the following together: • What kind of adventures do you look forward to? • How can we be involved in what God is doing here in our community? • Share with your children that we are never too young or too old to be involved with what God is doing.

Blessing For more information about blessing your child see the Blessing section in HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource.

A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you know God has a great plan for your life—a plan greater than anything you could ever imagine. May you be willing to trust His plans and follow Him on the great adventure He has for you.
