Younger Kids

Did You Know?

date:

This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them.

• Paul was from the cosmopolitan city of Tarsus. Tarsus, Athens, and Ephesus were considered the foremost intellectual cities in the ancient world.

For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or download at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

• Paul was able to teach to the members of the Areopagus from a position that would fit their intellectual framework.

• Paul appealed to the common ground between them. He also systematically undermined the assumptions of his Epicurean and Stoic listeners. • Paul’s listeners became hostile when he spoke of the resurrection.

Remember Verse for the environment of KNOWING

Your younger child is becoming more independent, but parents continue to be the most important influences in her life. Be sure to set aside one-on-one time as a way to continue that bond.

Older Kids Your older child is capable of more abstract thinking and can understand what it means to know God. Teach your child to grow that relationship through prayer and regular studying of Scripture.

Teachable Moments

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

After reading Acts 17:22–31, discuss the following together: • To whom did the people of Athens build an idol? • What kinds of things did Paul tell the people about God? • How can we play a part in helping others know the one true God?
