This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or download at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
Younger Kids
1.9
• Joseph’s brother traveled to Egypt in search of grain during the great famine.
Your child may need help to build healthy conflict resolution skills. When he has wronged someone, encourage him to recognize his part and take responsibility for his actions.
• Joseph’s brothers didn’t recognize him when they saw him.
Older Kids
• Joseph kept his identity hidden from his brothers and tested their motives before revealing himself. • God worked through the difficulties of Joseph’s life to ultimately save his family.
Remind your child of the importance of forgiveness. Remind her that people often hurt others when they’re feeling sad themselves and that all of us are sometimes unkind, even though we don’t mean to be.
