This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or download at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

3.13 REMEMBER & CELEBRATE

• There are seven festivals that were celebrated by the Israelite people: Passover, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Festival of First Fruits, Feast of Harvest, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles (or Booths). • During the feasts, the Israelites ate, danced, sang, played instruments, prayed, and offered sacrifices to God.

Your child is learning that there are consequences for his behavior— good or bad. Your consistent structure will help him learn what consequences he can expect as he learns to make wise choices.

Teachable Moments

• During the Festival of Atonement, or Yom Kippur, the Israelites rededicated the temple to the Lord and repented of their sins. • This festival will be fulfilled at the Day of Atonement, which will usher in God’s judgment of the nations.

After reading the passage, discuss the following together: • Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? • What does the word “righteous” mean? • How is God righteous?
