This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in God’s Word BEFORE your children attend church. Because God’s plan is for parents to be the primary spiritual nurturers of their children’s faith, we want YOU to be the one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them. For additional support in spiritual parenting and to learn more about creating transforming environments in your home, be sure to pick up HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource from your church or download at HomeFrontMag.com. You can also access the HomeFront app for your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

1.10 God Leads the Way Part of The Big God Story

Joshua 1; 3—4 The People Enter the Promised Land

Did You Know? • Moses grew in the Lord and was a model of faith to the community. He blessed others and equipped them to live in service to God.

Your child learns leadership skills by watching how you lead your family. Remaining consistent, fair, and honest in your own leadership is the best way to teach her to lead well.

• Throughout Exodus and Numbers, Joshua worked closely with Moses. In Exodus 24:13, he is referred to as Moses’ aide—his right-hand man. • Joshua was an ideal successor to Moses, and Moses continuously made prophetic hints toward Joshua’s future as a leader of God’s people.

Blessing

• Why do you think God told Joshua to be “strong and courageous”?

• Why didn’t Joshua need to be afraid?

• Why should we be courageous to do what God asks us?
