Donald Trump’s 1 0 0 day ac t i o n p l a n

Donald J. Trump was able to pull off the unexpected and became the 45th elected president of the United States. After defying the odds, the Republican Party nominee along with his running mate, Mike Pence, won against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her running mate Tim Kaine. Trump receiving 290 electoral votes won over Clintion’s 228, yet she still received over 200,000 votes with a whopping 60,274,974 popular votes. While the outcome of the election is bad news for many people, Trump is set to take offi ce on January 20th, 2017. A lot can change in one presidency term so here is a full list of what Donald Trump is proposing within his fi rst 100 days in offi ce. The following is a direct transcription of Trump’s speech on October 22, 2016 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; a speech where he detailed what exactly he plans to do during his fi rst 100 days in offi ce. In his words:

On the fi rst day of my term of offi ce, my administration will immediately pursue the following six measures to clean up the

corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, DC:

FIRST: propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress;

SECOND: enact freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health)

THIRD: a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated;

FOURTH: a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional offi cials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service;

FIFTH: a lifetime ban on White House offi cials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government;

SIXTH: a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.

2.

On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers:

FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205

SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacifi c Partnership

THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator

FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact

American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately

FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars' worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.

SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward

SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fi x America's water and environmental infrastructure

Additionally, on the first day, I will take the following five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law: FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won't take them back FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting.

Next, I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of

my Administration:

a. Middle Class Tax Relief And Simplification Act. An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief, and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with 2 children will get a 35% tax

cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from 7 to 3, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be

lowered from 35 to 15 percent, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10 percent

rate.

b. End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.

c. American Energy & Infrastructure Act. Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over 10 years. It is revenue neutral.

d. School Choice And Education Opportunity Act. Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends common core, brings education supervision to local communities. It

expands vocational and technical education, and make 2 and 4-year college more affordable.

e.Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act. Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health

insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are

over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications.

f. Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act. Allows Americans to deduct childcare and elder care from their taxes, incentivizes employers to provide on-side childcare services, and creates tax-free Dependent Care Savings Accounts for both young and elderly dependents, with matching contributions for low-income families.

g.End Illegal Immigration Act Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a 2-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a 5-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.

h. Restoring Community Safety Act. Reduces surging crime, drugs and violence by creating a Task Force On Violent Crime and increasing funding for programs that train and assist local police; increases resources for federal law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to dismantle criminal gangs and put violent offenders behind bars.

i. Restoring National Security Act. Rebuilds our military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding military investment; provides

Veterans with the ability to receive public VA treatment or attend the private doctor of their choice; protects our vital infrastructure from cyber-attack; establishes new screening procedures for immigration to ensure those who are admitted to our country support our

people and our values.

j. Clean up Corruption in Washington Act. Enacts new ethics reforms to Drain the Swamp and reduce the corrupting influence of special interests on our politics.

Kynder G. is from Atlanta, GA and is currently a junior studying Marketing.

She struggled with cystic acne since elementary school and was on the search for a lifestyle without pills in order to get rid of the acne. She started a flexitarian diet and now has more of a healthy lifestyle with no cystic acne at all.

Allie H. is from Woodstock, GA and is attending CCGA to complete an Art degree.

She was diagnosed with Celiac Disease almost 8 years ago and has stuck with a gluten free diet ever since. Her conscious effort in sticking to the gluten free diet has led her to live a much healthier lifestyle.

What is flexitarianism?

A flextiarian is the marriage of two words: Flexible and Vegetarian.

While the name may sound silly, this diet has become more popular in recent years and many people might not even realize their diet belongs in this category. Being an animal lover, my heart goes out to all the animal that suffer poor treatment on meat farms. My journey to essentially becoming flexitarian was with trying to become vegan and vegetarian. However, it wasn’t as realistic and easy as I was hoping. I was vegetarian in high school, became vegan, and it’s been a back and forth switcharound for the past year. It wasn’t until a few months ago when I found a legit name for my current diet-flexitarianism.

In a world where meat products are incorporated into majority of dishes, it’s HARD to fully stick to an entirely meatless diet without accidentally eating something with bits of meat in it.

Instead, I typically try to avoid meat products as much as I can for my health but mostly for my sanity. Yet, when I do eat meat, I don’t beat myself down for it.

With a flexitarian diet, nothing is off-limits, but the goal is to eat less meat by increasing your vege intake. This diet is great for those that are considering losing weight with a more gradual and healthy approach. Research shows that vegetarians tend to have a

healthier BMI (body mass index) than those that eat meat. By eating more plant-based foods that are typically low in saturated fats and cholesterol-free, it becomes an advocate for preventing heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Yet, you may ask: How do you get protein when you’re eating less meat? The answer is simple: there are many delicious vegetables and grains contain the same, if not more, protein than what some meats have to offer. Spinach.

Kale. Broccoli. Edamame. Mushrooms.

These are all alternatives to meat and the best part is that they’re always available at a fraction the cost of any meats!

Needless to say, living on campus with a meal plan that offers many meatless products has made this diet easy for me--and it can be for you as well. While being a flexitarian may not be for everyone, anyone looking to jump start a healthier lifestyle should consider this option.

“Celiac disease is a serious genetic autoimmune disorder that leads to damage in the small intestine if gluten is ingested. That being said, if the small intestine is damaged, it looses its ability to absorb necessary nutrients that the body needs in order to function properly.”

How has living a gluten free lifestyle affected you?

“Many people are starting to hear the term ‘gluten free’ and some are even attempting to stick to a GF diet. I am happy to hear that this is becoming the new fad becuase it’s a healthy diet for everyone and it leads to an even healthier lifestyle. It also makes things a little easier for me while trying to dine out or to grocery shop; there are GF signs EVERYWHERE! :)”

As a child, I was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency. My body was unable to produce it’s own growth hormone so I had to inject myself with it daily. As a teen, I was diagnosed with rhumetoid arthritis. While being active in the cheerleading community, my joints suffered tremendously. After each practice my joints would swell with inflammation and ache with a pain that shot chills up my spine. During highschool, I suddenly started to experience incredible stomach pain and was unable to gain any weight.

We decided to visit the doctors only to find out, after several medical exams, that I had Celiac disease. This means that growing up, I was eating gluten, therefore damaging my intestines. I wasn’t properly absorbing nutrients and in turn, I suffered a great deal.

Now, 7 and a half years after I quit consuming gluten, and I feel better than ever! Oh and no, I do not have “cheat days”. I wish I could but I also am pretty happy not dealing with so many health issues.”

Growing up, I never had to worry about what I ate. I was eating gluten, sugar, fats and carbs.; and plenty of them! However, that quickly changed once I turned 17. Let’s start from the beginging.

Easy Sweet Potato Mash Ingredients: • • • •

4 lbs of sweet potatoes 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature 1/2 cup apple butter Salt

Directions: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pierce the sweet potatoes all over with a fork andplace on a large rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 1 1/2 hours, or until very tender.

2. Peel the sweet potatoes and transfer to a large bowl. Mash with a potato masher until creamy, then mash in the butter and apple butter.

Health Benefits: Sweet potatoes are labeled a superfood because they are filled with high amounts of antioxidants, anti-imflammatory and blood sugar regulation nutrients. they also contain magnesium, which is the relaxation and anti-stress mineral. as a college students, this is a plus!

Starbucks’ Holiday Cup Outrage is Finally Over To what some may not sound like a big deal, Starbucks has fi nally rolled out with their new holiday cups as of November 10th and you guessed it—they’re fi nally red and holidayspirited! Starbucks learned the hard way last year with the company’s choice of debuting a plain red cup for their holiday drinks and it sparked controversy across the world for the ‘change of spirit.’ Even recently with Starbucks pre-holiday green cups with artwork designed to represent a sense of community ignited an uproar with Starbucks’ loyal customers.

This year, the team at Starbucks listened to the feedback and did something a little bit more creative with their cup design. After last year’s red cups inspired customers to draw their own holiday designs on them, they launched an Instagram contest looking for people to share their work. Starbucks took thirteen designs and immersed them into the new holiday packaging that will be offered at all 25,000 Starbucks locations across the world.

For avid Starbucks customers or just plain coffee-lovers, their new and red cups will add more delight to the coffee-drinking experience.

CCGA’s Rotaract Club Makes International Relations

Karina Martins, 22, made offi cial ties and exchanges between CCGA’s Rotaract Club and the Maringá Cidade Canção Rotaract Club of Brazil on November 2nd. The CCGA Rotaract Club and Martins’ in Brazil are a part of an international community composing of over 8,400 clubs in more than 170 countries with a shared commitment to both local and global services while also developing key traits to strengthen their professional persona.

With the help of the Georgia Rotary Student Program, Rotary Clubs have been able to award ambassadorial scholarships to around fi fty young students [aged 18 to 25] the opportunity to be a part of an exchange program that takes them across the world.

Karina, a recent Sociology graduate from State University of Maringá, has been grateful for her experience in America so far and is excited to experience the upcoming holidays in a foreign country.

At the recent Coastal Georgia Rotaract Club meeting, Martins gave a presentation called Caixinhas Culturais which translates to ‘Little Cultural Boxes.’ The project was an idea developed by her club to showcase the Brazilian culture to others that may not be familiar with it. During her presentation, the club and guests enjoyed some Brazilian snacks with Brigadeiro (a homemade chocolate candy), cheese bread, dulce de leche, and Guarana which is a soda made from the guarana fruit only found in the Amazon Rainforest.

She also presented gifts like t-shirts and banners from her club to the president of the CCGA Rotaract Club President, Oni McCoy.

For those interested in joining the Rotaract Club, they holding meetings every other Wednesday at 4 pm in ACS 111. If Karina’s story inspires anyone to study abroad, The Gilbert R. Tharp Global Grant Scholarship is open for seniors that wish to engage in Rotary International and the programs it provides. Mariner’s Fest

On October 22nd College of Coastal Georgia set up a day that is to be remembered for the year to come. That event was Mariner’s Fest, where college students and the community collide. There were games, face painting, food, and even a bull’s ride.

College clubs were there, showing what amazing things they had to offer. From a saltwater aquarium that had horseshoe crabs, and other wildlife in our ocean, to a small area in which children and adults alike can shoot each other with nerf guns in a marked area. It was fun for all

To top it off there was quite the excitement when the cheerleaders and volleyball team came running out, ready for their big day. Only to be heightened with excitement with an amazing show brought by the Dance Crew, it was quite the site to see. With the cherry on top being Dr. Umfress in the dunk tank for any college student (or non) to dunk him. That had the students running in line to get a chance at dunking the V.P. of student affairs. It made many students’ day and had the greatest time trying to dunk him.

There was even free food for students; nachos, cotton candy, hotdogs, and even funnel cake. “I had fun… The funnel cake and watching [my friend] ride the bull were my favorite parts, I will go next year.”

Bailey Maier says excitedly, having a grand time at the fest. It was a ball for all who attending, even those who worked at Mariner’s Fest. “It was a lot of fun helping the children have fun on hungry hippos, and the parents really enjoyed that. Even the students were having loads of fun!” Jonathan Erickson says happily.

DO IT YOURSELF Thanksgiving -Chocolate and Peanut Butter AcornsMaterials: *Mini chocolate chips * Bite-size NutterButters *Hershey Kiss Directions: Step 1: Melt 1/2 bag of Mini-Chips {5 second interval in the microwave, stirring really good each time} Step 2: Dip the flat end of the Hershey’s Kiss into melted chocolate and top with a bite-size NutterButter.

Step 3: Dip the flat end of a Mini-Chip into the melted chocolate and stick it to the NutterButter.

-Oreo Thanksgiving Balls-

Directions:

Materials: *1 pkg. (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened *36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed *16 oz. milk chocolate-flavored candy wafers, melted *16 oz. candy corn *3 Tbsp. mini candy button eyes *2 Tbsp. yellow small round candies *1 tube (0.75 oz.) red decorating icing

Step 1: MIX cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended; shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Place on waxed paper-covered rimmed baking sheet. Refrigerate 20 min.

Step 2: DIP balls, 1 at a time, in melted candy coating, turning to evenly coat each ball. Return to baking sheet. Decorate with remaining ingredients to resemble turkeys as shown in photo.

Step 3: REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm. Keep refrigerated.

-Reese’s Turkey-

Directions:

Materials: *8 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (full size) *8 Reese's Dark Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures *48 Reese's Pieces *16 candy eyes *½ c semi-sweet chocolate chips

Step 1: Unwrap all the candy and set aside. Then, melt chocolate chips in microwave (15 seconds medium heat, stir, repeat) until nice and smooth.

Step 2: Transfer melted chocolate to a plastic bag and cut a very small piece off the corner. Then, pipe a small amount of melted chocolate onto the back of the miniatures and place on the far side of the full size cups.

Step 3: Pipe a small amount of melted chocolate onto the back of the candy eyes and place on the turkey's head (the miniature).

Step 4: Pipe a small amount of melted chocolate onto the side of an orange Reese's Pieces and place on the miniature for the turkey's nose.

Step 5: Pipe a small amount of melted chocolate onto the back of 5 more Reese's Pieces and place at the top of the full size cup for the feathers.

Step 6: Let sit until chocolate is completely firm.

DO IT YOURSELF Thanksgiving -Thanksgiving Pilgrim HatsMaterials: *Shortbread cookies (the circle cookies that have fudge stripes on one side) *Big marshmallows *Chocolate chips or melting chocolate *Yellow frosting Directions: Step 1: First, melt your chocolate Step 2: Next, line a cookie sheet with tin foil so they cookies won’t stick, and place the cookies upside down.

Step 3: Then, take the marshmallow and dip it in the chocolate. Use a spoon to help cover the sides, and you can make any touch ups after you place the marshmallow on the cookie.

Step 4: Cover all sides of the marshmallow so it will stick to the cookie. Then place your cookie sheet in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to let the chocolate set quickly.

Step 5: Take some yellow icing and pipe on a square buckle on the front of the cookie.

-Pretzel TurkeyDirections:

Materials: *Pretzels *Candy Corn *Rolos *Reese’s Pieces *Sugar Pearls

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Then, place pretzels salted side down on a cookie sheet with the double rounded end pointing towards you.

Step 2: Place three candy corns, then unwrap rolos and place it in the center of each pretzel, and then place the place them in the oven for 5-6 minutes so that the rolo will soften.

Step 3: Press down on the rolo with a spoon so that it makes more contact with the candy corn and the pretzel.

Step 4: Use 2 pearls for the eyes and take a toothpick and dab it in the chocolate then on top of the pearls to dot the eyes. Then take the half a reese’s pieces and place it on the rolo for the beak.

Let cool and you’re finished!

-Acorn Donut Holes-

Materials: *Glazed doughnut holes (scroll down for a link to the homemade recipe if you like) *Chocolate Sprinkles and/or Crumbled Toffee *Pretzel Sticks *Nutella Spread (you can use peanut butter or chocolate frosting too) Directions: Step 1: Spoon out Nutella, sprinkles, toffee crumbles, and pretzel sticks into four separate bowls.

Step 2: Dip the top 1/3 of the donut hole into the Nutella, then choose either the toffee crumbles or the sprinkles and dip the Nutella covered area of the donut hole into those.

Step 3: Insert a pretzel stick in the top, center of the donut hole, this will be your acorn stem! Place on a lovely serving tray and there you go!

Dean of Students’ Corner Mariners,

As we begin the month of the November, we focus on registering for spring classes, checking our assignment grades, and getting ready for the quick arrival of final exams (can you believe the semester is almost over?). One of the best parts of the November is the ability to give thanks during Thanksgiving with our family, friends, and loved ones.

While Thanksgiving dinner is full of exciting conversations, I encourage you to think of the positive and impactful moments that have occurred during this semester. When someone (especially your little brother or sister, cousin, etc.) asks you “how’s College?”

– thoughtfully consider your response. You have an opportunity to answer with not just a response of “it’s good.” Think of your friends, faculty, staff, programs/events, and student organizations that have impacted your time here at the College. Answer in a way that details how college has changed you, expanded your views, and how you are excited that you are achieving your goals. Your answer to this question (especially with so many family and friends around) can help motivate someone to go to College. Whether you know it or not, many of your family and friends look up to you because you have made it – you are a college student.

Men’s basketball season tips off The College of Coastal Georgia Men’s basketball team has kicked

The College of Coastal Georgia Women's basketball team has tipped off its season with a new coach at the helm. Roger Hodge is the new head honcho and is looking to dive right back into collegiate sports.

“I absolutely love it here at Coastal, mainly because everybody wants to be great,” says Hodge, who was hired over the summer after former coach Jonathan Barbaree left for Anderson University.

Only three names and faces from last year's team remain on this squad. Two of those are head coach Jesse Watkins who is beginning his third season with the team and assistant coach Tommy Yancey who is back for his second season with the program.

Hodge most recently coached on the collegiate level at Lincoln The only returning player from last year’s group is junior forward Memorial, where he spent three seasons as the head coach from 2011- Brandon Martin who spent last season redshirted.

Of the 13 players on the roster, nine are actually freshmen while four others are transfers from other schools.

This Mariner's team is composed of four returning players along with several newcomers, including fi ve freshmen.

“Teaching is the main difference from last year," said Watkins.

Hodge has his goals for this team set, “The ultimate goal is to win a championship and succeed at the highest level.”

“I really enjoy teaching these players what it is like to be a college athlete,” he added.

When asked what he preaches to his athletes his response was upbeat.

Martin, who is also team captain, preaches to the group to always work hard and it will pay off. As the season progresses the goal is for the chemistry between the players to grow.

"We have a commitment to character and doing things the right way on and off the court,” he said.

After talking with senior guard Kaci Palo it’s evident she has strong faith, “I want to do my best each time I get to step on that court and serve my teammates and coaches” Palo said. “Nothing is unimportant that we do when we serve God. Whatever sport, job, or anything you do, do it with a sense of enthusiasm.”

“We want to be a family on and off the court," Martin said. "Our main goal is to win the championship. Nothing more, nothing less.”

While success on the court is of course a main focus, Watkins wants the team to know that there is more to being a college athlete than just playing basketball. He has one thing that he preaches to these young guys above anything else: Academics.

Volleyball wins third straight SSAC conference title

After a hard-fought tournament, the Mariner’s volleyball team is once again conference champions. These women claimed their third consecutive SSAC tournament title on November 12th with a 3-1 victory over Bethel in the conference tournament fi nals.

Mariners make history Coastal Georgia volleyball players Cayley Meiners and Allie Shannon made program history on Tuesday, November eighth.

The Coastal Georgia senior standouts became the fi rst Mariners volleyball players to win national player of the week awards from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The NAIA announced that Tuesday that Meiners won the Setter of the Week award while Shannon claimed the Attacker of the Week honor.

On Monday, the Coastal Georgia stalwarts were named for the same honors by the Southern States Athletic Conference which made them eligible for the national awards along with the other conference winners from across the country.

Meiners had 45 assists and eight digs against Faulkner while posting 47 assists and 12 digs against Dalton State. She had 36 assists and nine digs against Brenau.

Over the three matches, she averaged 14.2 assists per set and 3.2 digs per set.

Shannon had a high of 16 kills against Faulkner while going for 11 kills and fi ve blocks against Brenau. She also posted 10 kills in the middle match against Dalton State.

She hit .486 in the three matches combined while averaging 4.11 kills per set.
