underrated artists Audrey JONES Business Team

Free Press Summer Fest at Eleanor Tinsley Park is the weekend before school’s out this summer. While everyone knows popular artists like Childish Gambino, Zedd and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, most won’t recognize other significantly good artists at this year’s fest. Here’s a list of some of the best underrated bands so you don’t miss out.

Diverging from book to movie Hala KHAN Reporter Over spring break, citizens of all factions eagerly awaited the movie release of Divergent, a dystopian story that made its way from a book to the big screen. The story takes place in a city in which people are divided based on their personality. As Tris, the main character, turns 16, she must decide what path she will take for her future.

The 1975 Best songs: "Chocolate", "Girls" Fast facts: • Manchester, England based band • Influenced by 80s artists like Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson and Scritti Politti • Struggled for seven years to get attention of mainstream

The author, Veronica Roth, wrote an easy read, however, the book had a part which could have been written better, the ending. It didn’t conclude the book well enough. No cliff hanger, nothing. But for her first book, and the fact that she’s like 24, it’s pretty good.

Sky Ferreira Best songs: “Everything Is Embarrassing” & “You’re Not The One”

Now for the movie. If one would like to discuss the film itself, the director managed to keep viewers’ attention with eye-pleasing actors, mainly, Theo James, the actor playing the role of Four. The movie also had a constant dark setting, creating a suspenseful feeling when watching. Most importantly, the movie did not deviate too much from the book’s main plotline, even though the directors merged events of the book together to fit film format. Sadly, the movie left out key characters and development between them that occurred in the story, which would affect any future movies based on the books. Despite Divergent being a great disappointment that comes with book continues to find its way into Hollywood.

movie, the adaptations

Fast facts:

• Singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California • Music genre is “synthpop” where a synthesizer is the dominant musical instrument • Raised knowing Michael Jackson personally, as her grandmother was Jackson’s stylist

Robert DeLong Best songs: “Global Concepts”, “Happy” Fast facts:

• Electronic one-man band from Seattle, Washington • Plays a full drum set and controls his sound loops with video game remotes like Wii-motes and joysticks.

Cage The Elephant Best songs: “Come A Little Closer”, “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked” Fast facts:

Sit in the front of the class; separating yourself from distractions can help raise a GPA. Dyou want to get into college or not? Walk on the right side of the hallway. In ‘Merica we drive on the right side, it only makes sense to walk on the right side too. If you’re feeling bad, give someone a compliment, it could make you both happy. Avoid crowded hallways, use back stairwells to get around easier, but be careful of secret rendezvous. Have a morning cup of coffee to get through the day.

Big booty boot camp Swimsuit season is on the horizon, but no need to fret. The struggle of dieting and working out does not count as a reason to quit Maci SMITH working toward Features Manager that healthy bod and revert to unhealthy decisions. The journey comes with patience and persistence and without these qualities, a diet can not go far. It takes four weeks to notice a personal body change, but six weeks for others to notice, and eight weeks for the world to notice a slimmer and trimmer physique. Do not quit. Keep going for the goal.

Keep it easy

1

1. Find a partner: Working out is always more fun with a friend

2. Pace each workout: do not overwork your body to the point you want to quit

2

Fiber also improves cardiovascular health.

4. Numbers on a scale do not matter: muscle weighs more than fat

o not get discouraged if something does not fit right; there’s no shame in trying a different sizes. Its better to get something that fits than something too small and uncomfortable.

3. D 4. L 5. N o not go swimsuit shopping after eating; your stomach will expand after all that good food and will not show a true image of how you will look.

3. Do not starve: When the body does not consume enough calories, it stores its own fat and uses it for calories

5. Do not compare to others: you have a different body type from others that makes you beautiful

‘Tis the season, swimsuit season. The sweaters go away and the abs come out, or at least, the micromanaging, obsessive body Rebekah KISH thoughts. Looking News Manager in the mirror pointing out every flaw. The lack of tone, flawed skin, bulging “fat” oozing out of clothes. This season’s not about being skinny, it is about enjoying the sun and having fun. When hanging out with friends, trying to match up with them does not help. Learn to focus on the activity, and not about the look of doing it. Most girls do not wear a size 0-2. According to glamour.com the average woman wears a size 14 swimsuit. Self-esteem is at an all time low during this season. Focusing on the negative body parts will not make it change; forget the haters because somebody loves those imperfections. In one minute, 13,000 words run through the brain, and standing in the mirror, all 13,000 words become negative. That one minute will break any teenager’s self-confidence. Not one body looks the same, so do not compare body types. Comparison will only lead to self-doubt. Remember teens are not alone in those feelings.
