Considering the current geopolitical crises, more particularly this year’s war in Ukraine and the adoption of packages of sanctions against Russia (and Belarus) by the European Union, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organised the Economic and Financial Sanctions in the Global Context seminar. Invited speakers from the European Commission, the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, Arendt & Medernach and Shearman & Stearling LLP presented an overview of sanctions and their effects on the private sector economic activity.

As mentioned by Carlo Thelen, director General of the Chamber of Commerce, in his opening speech, the Chamber of Commerce with the support of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance has set up a helpdesk (sanctions@cc.lu) to provide coordinated support to Luxembourg companies impacted by the economic consequences of the current situation. Launched in March 2022, this service is still accessible to all members of the Chamber of Commerce.

18 -20 OCTOBER 2022 Brussels – Luxembourg: successfull trade mission

The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in close partnership with hub.brussels and BECI, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Belgium and the Enterprise Europe Network, organised a GET2Know Your Neighbours trade mission to Brussels. The delegation made up of over 30 companies and public representatives from Luxembourg was introduced to the digital technologies, healthtech smart cities, and sustainable construction sectors in Brussels throught a series of visits to companies and public. During this trade mission, entrepreneurs from both territories welcomed the opportunities to meet and exchange. The Business Club Belgium-Luxembourg was introduced to all the participants as a unique and privileged means to enhance this willingness to collaborate post-mission thanks to future networking events.

5 DÉCEMBRE 2022 Made in Luxembourg: 114 nouvelles entreprises labellisées

Remis deux fois par an par la Chambre de Commerce et la Chambre des Métiers, le label «Made in Luxembourg» édition automne 2022 a été décerné début décembre à 114 entreprises. Le label est décerné pour un ou plusieurs produits ou services. Il est à la fois un repère pour le consommateur et une source de fierté pour les entreprises qui le détiennent. Créé en 1984 à l’initiative du ministère des Affaires étrangères, de la Chambre de Commerce et de la Chambre des Métiers, le label Made in Luxembourg reste l’un des piliers de la reconnaissance des produits et services élaborés dans le pays. Renouvelé en 2014, il joue désormais un rôle de plus en plus important non seulement pour les entreprises mais également pour les consommateurs.

Alors que le label «Made in Luxembourg» est de plus en plus sollicité, il importait cette année à la Chambre de Commerce et à la Chambre des Métiers de mettre en lumière l’importance, non seulement de la provenance locale des produits et services, mais également de la créativité et de l’innovation d’un chef d’entreprise. Après l’introduction de Jan Glas, Lex Delles, ministre des Classes moyennes accompagné Carlo Thelen, directeur général de la Chambre de Commerce de Tom Wirion, directeur général de la Chambre des Métiers, ont procédé à la remise du label.

01. 02. 03. The session hosted by the Luxembourg delegation was moderated by Bastien Berg of the Luxembourg City Incubator. In his opening speech, Henri Schumacher, Ambassador of Luxembourg in Finland, expressed his joy to discover the strong participation from Luxembourg at the Slush as well as Luxembourg’s reinforced ties with the Finnish ecosystem.His Excellency’s speech was followed with a presentation of the Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem by Michele Gallo, Director Digital Technologies & Startup at the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy. Mattia Musetti, Advisor Business Development from Luxembourg for Finance, continued the session by projecting the investor scene and how it could be interesting to set up a fund in Luxembourg. The session included a discussions and speeches between Stephane Pesch, CEO of the Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association and Laurent Hengesch, Founding Partner of Ilavska Vuillermoz Capital. Teona Khubutia, Manager, Luxembourg Business Angel Network, Matias Mäenpää, Co-founder LEAP, Matteo Cernuschi, Co-Founder, ANote Music and Jordan Vannitsen, CEO & Co-Founder, Odysseus Space. The side event was concluded with a networking session amongst the participants.

16 – 18 NOVEMBER 2022 Slush 2022 to meet the global startup ecosystem

The Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, in close collaboration with Startup Luxembourg, organised a visit to the Slush 2022 in November 2022. With over 35 participants, the delegation encompassed institutions, startups, investors and business angels. Luxembourg hosted a side event with the objective to present its dynamic startup ecosystem. The Slush event started in 2008 in Helsinki with a one-day affair made up of around 250 people. While the size of the event has grown by leaps and bounds, the goal has stayed the same: to focus on how best to serve startup ecosystems across the world.
