Judges’ tough job for “fabulous”2016 RAFCA

It was another great Recycled Art for Cowra (RAFCA) awards with the announcement of winners for 2016 at Cowra Aquatic Centre,Tidy Towns Chair, Judi Smith said.

“The day was fabulous, we had a number of performances from Cowra Dance Factory students, under the leadership of Larissa Pullen,” Judi said. “We had dancers aged from three to 14, and more than 100 people watching, afterwards the kids were able to enjoy a free jumping castle and a free workshop run by Glen Preece, where they made wonderful wind chimes from cutlery, as well as a sausage sizzle.” Judi said that the success of the event would not be possible without the support of the many sponsors for the Awards. “Thanks to the judges, all sponsors, performers, entrants and teachers. We had entries from almost all district schools, and from as far away as Ungarie, Canowindra and Greenethorpe,” Judi said. The high-quality of the entries meant that it took the judges a long time to decide the winners, Judi added. “Special mention must go to Ben Price, whose wonderful tables won first prize in the senior section and Best in Show — a total of $800 well-deserved. “Adults enjoyed some wonderful tunes from the Town Band, under the leadership of Glenn McLeish, it was a wonderful result for everyone, judges, performers, sponsors and winners,” Judi concluded.
