Next round of Community Grants Are you a community group with a worthwhile project? Need new equipment or improvements to a building? Then, Cowra Council’s Community Grants Program may be for you! Next round of Cowra Council’s $50,000 Community Grants Program has opened with eligible individuals and community groups having until Wednesday August 31 to lodge applications. The program has a variety of options to assist individuals, organisations and clubs achieve their aims. Groups applying must be not-for-profit and either based in Cowra or propose a project that directly benefits the local community. Please note that the Community Grant Program application form and guidelines have been slightly-altered since Round Two, and the latest versions must be used. These are available at Council’s website: www.cowracouncil.com.au and at Council’s front desk at 116 Kendal St. Applications must be received by Wednesday, August 31 and successful applicants will be notified by the end of October. It only happens once every five years, and Cowra residents are urged to get it right! Next Tuesday, August 9, is Australia’s Census Night and locals are asked to ensure that they accurately fill-out all the relevant questions. It’s Australia’s moment to pause and make a difference, and help shape the future of our communities. Census data is used for such vital decisions as prioritising Federal, State and Local Government funding, resource allocation, and the supply of Government services. For the first time, most residents are expected to complete their census data electronically.
Expressions of interest are sought from interested persons for the use of: Approximately 44 hectares of land known as North Logan Road Land. Expressions of Interest — Managing Editor for Cowra History Publication
Cowra is a rural-based township in the NSW central west approximately four hours west of Sydney. The Shire completed a history of the district in 1988 titled Cowra on the Lachlan. This publication was a series of essays contributed by local authors on local history, sports, community groups, villages, churches, and local government. Cowra Council is now interested in revisiting this book covering the last 30 years and is seeking to contract a “Managing Editor� to research, compile, write, oversight, edit, and publish this work as a hard-copy book and in an electronic form. Cowra Heavy Vehicle Bypass Review of Environmental Factors — Public Exhibition The Cowra Heavy Vehicle Bypass Review of Environmental Factors (REF) is now on public exhibition and Council is inviting public comment until Friday 12 August 2016. Copies are on public display in the foyer of Cowra Shire Council, 116 Kendal Street Cowra during office hours. The REF may also be viewed on the ‘Public Exhibition’ section of Council’s website - www.cowracouncil.com.au.
