Save the date now for Christmas Street Fest!
Christmas is a magical, yet busy time of year, no more so than at the Cowra Christmas Street Festival. So save the date for this year’s event with the Festival to be held on Friday, December 16 in Kendal Street. “All things Christmas exist at these markets, from the traditional to the quirky, thanks to such a vast array of people and artisans,” Elizabeth Picker, Events & Marketing Officer for Cowra Tourism said. The event again offers locals the chance to experience a quintessential Cowra Christmas lead-up by shopping at the Festival and supporting local producers. The “Draw your favourite Australian bird” competition is open to students from Years 3–6, the event will provide individual awards for Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 entries and is being run by Cowra’s Natural Plenty to look forward to Resource Management (NRM) Committee. during Bird Week 2016 Other local events during Bird Week include a free talk and running from October 15-23. luncheon on Saturday, October 15 at the Department of Primary Industries Cowra Research Station on Binni Creek Road. There will also be a talk on “Why Birds are Important” at the Oxley Wine Bar on Thursday, October 20; and a “How to Capture Amazing Images of Birds” photography class on Sunday, October 23. A bushwalk and bird survey will also be held on Sunday, October 23 at Conimbla National Park starting at 10am. Entries for the drawing competion can be posted or hand-delivered to the Cowra NRM Committee care of Cowra Council Customer Service Centre at 116 Kendal St, or given to NRM Committee representatives during school visits. Entries close 4.30pm, Wednesday, October 19 with judging by Cowra’s NRM Committee members with winners announced on Friday, October 21.
