Hundreds of 2016 RAFCA entries on display at Pool This year’s exciting RAFCA Awards Presentation will be held this Sunday, September 11 with plenty of fun at the Aquatic Centre! As well as the 150-odd entries on display, the day will also include a free jumping castle; entertainment by Cowra gymnasts, Cowra Dance Factory, and the Cowra Town Band; a PCYC barbecue; and a workshop for children to make their own wind chime. “Come along, be amazed by how creative our kids are, and vote for your choice of best sculpture for a gold coin donation,” Tidy Towns Chairperson, Cr Judi Smith said. “Great prize-money of up to $500 for ‘Best in Show’ will be awarded, with heaps of other great prizes for first, second, third and highly-commended. Winners will also be exhibited in the Pavilion at next week’s Cowra Show,” Cr Smith said. All proceeds from the RAFCA event goes to the Cowra PCYC, who will also be running a barbecue on the awards day. This year’s theme “Song Titles” has generated a fantastic display of creativity from Cowra Shire students from preschool to TAFE age.

10.45–12.15pm FREE recycling workshop for youngsters run by well-known local artist Glen Preece (make your own wind chime out of old cutlery)

NBN work underway now in Cowra Shire areas
Construction is currently underway to connect over 5000 premises to the NBN network in Cowra. At this stage, it is expected that the network will be ready for service early in 2017 with a large portion of Cowra’s fixed line footprint under construction. Those who cannot access NBN’s fixed line or fixed wireless technologies can connect to the network through the Sky Muster satellite service which is available now at: www.nbnco.com.au/satellite Connecting to the NBN network is not automatic and people should contact their phone or internet provider to discuss their needs and make the switch. Residents and businesses can find out more about how to make the transition to the network by visiting: www.nbn.com.au/switch
