CONGRATS TO BIRD DRAWING WINNERS As part of National Bird Week, local kids were encouraged to tap their creative side and draw their favourite Australian bird. Entries were judged by representatives of Cowra Council’s Natural Resource Management Committee with prizes for first, second and third awarded for entrants from each year group between Years 3–6. There were 77 entries with some very tough competition.

MAYUMI ENJOYS COWRA VISIT Cowra is hosting a Joetsu City staff member as part of our long-standing Friendship Agreement with the Japanese City. Mayumi Nakabayashi from Joetsu’s Community Planning Division is currently getting a first-hand look at the sites and sounds of Cowra while on the 11-day exchange. Mayumi is pictured here with children from the Gooloogong pre-school group and the Carinya Early Childcare Services staff who run the service, Jo Baker and Britt Dunlop, at Gooloogong Memorial Hall.
Liquid Trade Waste Approval Businesses that generate liquid trade waste must have approval to discharge it into Council’s sewerage system. Even if it is not discharged to the sewerage system, Council still needs to be notified of its production. It is an offence under the Local Government Act 1993 to discharge liquid trade waste to the sewerage system or to discharge it contrary to the conditions of approval. Demolition of Buildings Expressions of interest are sought from interested persons for demolition of buildings and clean-up of three Council properties. The buildings for demolition are located in Darling Street, Scenic Drive and Kite Street. Interested persons must obtain an information pack and submit a nominated price, to be received by Council by 4.30 pm, Friday 9 December 2016.
