Climate Smart Innovations (CSI) for the Central West
Climate Smart Innovations will be held in the central west town of Cowra which straddles the Lachlan River and is reliant on the valley's strong agricultural base. Well known for prime lamb and veal production, the soil types, usually reliable rainfall and abundant irrigation water have brought a range of primary industries to the area, including: viticulture, dairying, fresh vegetables, lucerne hay, poultry egg production, broadacre grain and oilseeds. This dynamic conference will highlight how the region has and continues to build an inventive future based on agricultural, environmental and conservation advancements. Hear from a variety of outstanding speakers, take part in farm tours and workshops showcasing the regions latest innovations in response to climate adaptation research and meet the local producers and sample their amazing produce.

Community Solutions Director 25 years in conservation and strategic planning. Is a Conservation Coach across Australia and the Asia Pacific. Been involved in innovative projects and partnerships at a landscape scale across Australia and is a Board member of the Lake Cowal Foundation.
Andrew Cox CEO - Invasive Species Council Passionate about biosecurity and the importance of early action and the role of the community. Closely involved in the NRC reviews of weed management and pest animal management and NSW Biosecurity Act 2015.
Kristy Good Splash Program Coordinator - Liveable City Solutions Supports government to embed integrated water cycle management and climate change adaptation and resilience. Advocate of water sensitive cities and seeing NSW cities transition to be more liveable and resilient.
Steven Crimp Climate Application Scientist - Climate Change stitute Australian National University
Implemented award winning environmental projects including "Racing to Save the Mount Panorama Woodlands" and "Protecting and Connecting Bathurst Copper Butterfly Habitat" and current Jo Ross Memorial Award winner.

Dr Guy Fitzhardinge Farmer, WWF Australia Director, Northern Australia Indigenous Land & Sea Management Alliance Director Beef enterprise owner, keenly interested in issues relating to the environment and its sustainable use and was a member of the Commonwealth Threatened Species Scientific Committee for 9 years. Founder of Karrkad Kanjdji Trust. Worked with the Kimberly, Central Australian and Northern Land Council’s.
Believes that farmers and supporting agencies have to be adaptable, flexible and responsive to change to truly explore opportunity.
Quentin Moxey Moxey Farms Owner of a Sustainable farm that relies on technology and innovation, by minimising waste and using water efficiently and use an onsite anaerobic bio-digester.
Samantha Bowker Director Central Coast Modern Hypnosis & Happy U HQ Hypnotherapist and Performance Coach who explores relationships between how we think and communicate and our patterns of behaviour. Sam aims to help people to become ’the best version of themselves’.
Dr Paul Gibson-Roy Lead Scientist Greening Australia Focus’ on the restoration of complex, biodiverse grasslands and grassy woodlands. Established the Grassy Groundcover Research Project and investigated native seed production and prairie restoration in the US on a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship
Carolynne James GATE Project Manager - Dept. Primary Industries Leads the new Global Ag-Tech Ecosystem (GATE) institute in Orange, an ag-tech research and innovation centre. Fellow of Governance Institute of Australia.

Workshops & Tours - 19 April Splash - Living Waterways Framework Workshop 9am to 4pm Facilitator: Kristy Good This workshop embodies the elements of liveability, resilience, sustainability and productivity. It provides participants with skills to identify good environmental outcomes through good design, Indentify best practice design options and promote collaborative thinking for design solutions for water sensitive urban design strategies. It gives local government planners incite on how the program can be incorporated into Development Control Plans.
Wine & Forage - 10am to 2pm Enjoy a scenic trip Coached around some of Cowra’s amazing wine region, stopping at 3 local wineries / producers and sampling their fine food and wine. Tours depart and return at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre. Lunch included. More information available soon.
