GOOLIE GOSSIP GOOLOOGONG COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER

NOVEMBER 2016

LANDCARE NEWS Thank you to those who came to the Landcare AGM in October. The Committee has remained unchanged. Things seem to be running smoothly and plenty is being achieved. We look forward to another happy year! Landcare has been successful in getting one off the LLS (Local Land Services) Small Groups Grant which is great news. This will allow us to run a few workshops with anyone who is interested to collect, prepare and plant some seeds of some of our wonderful local species. One of the workshops will be a trip to the Botanical Gardens in Canberra for education and inspiration! The aim will be to grow 400 totally local plants. Half of them will be planted on the properties of the people taking part in the workshops and the other half will be used in the various plantings around the village as replacements or extensions. Look out for further announcements about this great fun project! Our Spring Bird Surveys will be done as soon as possible now that things are drying out a bit. There are some beautiful wild flowers out at the moment along the roadsides and in the Conimbla National Park. If you are lucky enough to come across something like this Fringed Lilly or the purple Dampiera remember just to look at it and leave it to produce seeds for next year! Next Landcare meeting will be Wednesday 9th November 09.11.16 at 7pm at the Memorial Rooms. Pics - Fringed Lilly and a purple Dampiera
