GOOLOOGONG COMMUNITY NEWSLETTER FAREWELL FOR TYDD FAMILY

Farewell drinks and supper for the Tydd family on the 16th April at 7pm at the Country Club. Please call the club on 63448201 to advise for catering numbers.

LANDCARE NEWS It was a great turn out to the March Landcare meeting. Thank you to Tracee and Phil. It’s really inspiring to have a look at what people have achieved on the own properties. It’s great to see thoughtful and innovative solutions in action! And some very contented livestock! Also welcome to some new members. That will be the last of the farm visits until the days lengthen again after winter but there will be other Landcare events to get involved in. By the time this is in print we should have extended the Gooloogong School garden again with another big load of mulch from Active Tree Services who trim trees for Essential Energy. The garden is doing very well and lots of small birds seem to be making good use of the wide variety of shrubs. Yellow Rumped Thornbills for example are bouncing around. The first wattles planted have seeded this year and some native ground covers are flourishing on the mulch. Next meeting will be Wednesday 13.04.16 at 7.30pm back in the Memorial Rooms. We will be continuing with plans for the planting out of the Borrow Pit area near the bridge in Spring after the works have been completed. Any input and ideas are very welcome.

Historical Society News Gooloogong Historical Society meets the first Tuesday of each month at 2pm. Please note change of time. New members welcome. Anzac Day photo wall opening will now be at 8.45am and not 8am as stated in the invitations. Our Heritage Tour is to be held on Sunday 17 April 2016. Tickets can be purchased for $10 from Cowra Tourism. Morning tea and lunch payable on arrival at our rooms on the day.

Country Club news We are sorry to be losing our police officer and his family . Even thought they are only moving to Cowra we will miss them in the village. The Club is happy to be hosting a farewell evening for Stuart, Brooke and their family on Saturday 16th April at 7pm. As a supper will be served we would appreciate if you could advise numbers for catering purposes. Please phone the club on 63448201 Come along and enjoy a drink with them before they leave. The club hosted a successful St .Patricks Day bowls afternoon, even though numbers were down (pennants day) it was a very enjoyable evening. Bowlers also enjoyed Christine's Irish stew. The last 5 weeks we have had a paid cook in the kitchen unfortunately she is no longer with us. Christine and Vera will again be the cooks (started on good Friday) until a replacement cook is found. The restaurant will be open on Friday nights other nights by arrangement. Remember Friday night meat draws. End of the month draw is now a $50.00 meat tray, well worth winning these days with the price of meat . Remember your dollar goes further over the bar at the country club.
