DRUM UP SUPPORT Start collecting all your chemical drums to help raise funds for the Park Committee’s fundraising efforts for exercise equipment. DrumMUSTER will be held later in the year – more info to come.
COUNTRY CLUB NEWS Hi All, not much happening the past month at the Club. Polo Cross held a very successful carnival this month. The largest yet, this meant we had a very busy night in the club on Saturday. The Barbara Moorby Triples Bowls Day will be held on the 2/7/17 Contact club to book your team. The shades are up over the bowling green courtesy of the grant. Remember the change of date for the Country Club Sports Classic which will be held on Saturday the 9th of Sept. Start selecting your teams, maybe some training? Remember Brendan is still cooking up a storm at the club. Meat raffles and members draw still on every Friday night.
Grenfell Bus Service GD and L Sinclair Bus Services are currently looking at offering a door to door school bus service, seat belted and air conditioned within the township of Gooloogong for children wanting to attend any Grenfell school. Our names are Geoff & Lesley Sinclair. We have a school bus run which we currently run up to 10 kms out of Gooloogong. We are interested in coming into the township of Gooloogong to pick up any children wishing to attend school in Grenfell. When it comes to choosing a school for Year 7 we will come to Gooloogong if Gooloogong parents would like their child to attend a Grenfell School. Our contact number is Geoff 0438 827 955. Gooloogong Mixed Nuts Mixed Nuts is starting later over the Winter months so we can spend an extra hour under the doona! Winter hours are Tuesdays 10am till 1pm. We share morning tea duties and $5 each covers the use of the rooms and projects / resources as needed. So far, thanks to our members, we’ve acquired an electric spinning wheel, carding combs, wool winder, hat block, hat shapers, dyes, beading loom and beading. We are currently awaiting a table loom so we can all have a go with learning something new. These can be borrowed by members to use at home. Group workshops are always heavily subsidized too, although on hold during the cold weather. We’ve kept our hands warm making hundreds of knitted and crocheted hats that are off to Westmead Children’s Hospital for children with cancer. On 24th June some of us enjoyed an outing to the Winter Magic Festival in Katoomba where we celebrated Winter solstice, watching the colourful parade while enjoying hundreds of street stalls. A reminder too that every Tuesday our little library is open, with a librarian on site during the hours above. There are hundreds of modern titles now on the shelves, including a small dvd section if you want to stay indoors and just read or watch a movie. We hope you’re keeping warm!

GOOLOOGONG LOG CABIN NEWS Painted fascia! Thank you to Wayne Spicer for your fantastic effort! It looks great 2017 ESKY BALL – what a success! Final tally not in yet, but it sure will go a long way to helping with the ongoing utility bills and maintenance as well as our restoration plans! Just as importantly it’s great to see the hall rockin’ with 300 people having a great night! Thank you to our subcommittee, without your huge effort it would not be the night you continue to deliver and thank you on behalf of the community for your fundraising efforts Annemarie, Jimmy, Jacqui, Janelle, Jessica, Claire, Chris and Scott. LANDCARE NEWS So the annual Tree Giveaway day is nearly here again! If you would like some wonderful native shrubs or trees just get along to the Memorial Park on Sunday 30th July and choose your 8 FREE plants!! There will be information about your plants and advice on how to grow them. There will also be a display about the local bird surveys that the Landcare has been carrying out over the last year with some info about birds you might see at your place. Most importantly there will be delicious morning tea available freshly made piklets with jam and cream!! Gooloogong School will have their Tree Day on the Friday, 28th July. Any Landcarers who would like to do a bit of work on the school gardens will be very welcome to join in on the day. For more information please ring Ruth on 63448256.
