Very successful music night at the Log Cabin! Photos and report will be in the July edition - we look forward to many more similar nights to come!!
A large crowd attended both services at Gooloogong for the 100th Anniversary of the landing of the ANZAC forces at Gallipoli. Although the landing at Gallipoli is still the main focus of ANZAC DAY it now more accepted that all service men/ women who served their nation in all conflicts & made the supreme sacrifice be honoured on this day. As the years pass by, instead of this day fading in the nations memory, the opposite is happening, with larger crowds turning out to remember throughout the nation. Gooloogong is no exception. An example of this is when the Dawn service was reinstated at Gooloogong about eight years ago, eight people were in attendance. Since then it has steadily grown in numbers. This year about 100 + attended. Being a special year the War Memorial Hall Committee decided to add a little extra to the ceremonies which all would have seen. Many positive comments have been received. There were many people who worked hard to put the day together. There are too many to name individually, but we would like to mention just a few. Leslie Dickson & helpers (Janet, Edna, Leigh, Lorraine) who catered for our gunfire breakfast. Leslie also made the wonderful “remberance cake”. Lynne Dowd who did a wonderful job of the icing of the cake. Catherine Thompson (& helpers) for making over 600 poppies & arranging other displays. John Thompson for his eloquent handling of the M C . Ken Marks for the past seven years Ken has travelled from Katoomba to be our bugler. This was Kens last year as our bugler. To our music team Milly, Macy & Tory Boland & Janet Moxey. Allan Watson who always steps up to read a significant poem. Vanessa & Colleen for serving morning tea. Major Michelle Wyatt, who travelled from Wagga who represented the ADF to be our guest speaker. The Committee would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping out on the day. You are appreciated. We can now all “STAND DOWN” (until next year) Dennis Sargent President Gooloogong War Memorial Hall Committee
The Gooloogong Historical Society Inc recently hosted a 90th birthday in their rooms for Mrs Miriam Fazzari, who is a Foundation member of the group, and a wonderful secretary for most of that time. We wish her and husband Mick good health and happiness when they relocate.

Landcare news The Landcare field trip to Grenfell on Saturday 16th went off very well. We had beautiful weather to enjoy our tour of the Weddin Community Nursery and a comprehensive day of activity at Phil and Jan Diprose’s very interesting farm “Ochre Arch”. The solar power set-up and the extensive water system were inspiring to see. The wonderful view from the top of the hill was a great way to end the tour. Thanks Stuart for pointing out the echidna! Many thanks to the Nursery volunteers who came in specially to show us their lovely native plants. Many thanks also to Phil and Jan. And many thanks to our own Phil for driving the bus and of course to Tracee for putting so much effort into organizing the day. Just a reminder to any members who offered to plant some of our own locally grown shrubs on their properties, please contact Tracee to collect your plants. Looking ahead, some university students are coming from Sydney to do some voluntary work in our village on Sunday 5 th July. Various community groups are organizing activities to make use of this great offer. The 40 students are staying over in the Log Cabin. Landcare hopes to plant out some of the RMS trees and shrubs with the students help. Next Landcare meeting will be Wednesday 10.06.15 at 7pm at the Memorial Rooms. Hope to see you there with any enquiries or ideas! Contact Tracee on 63448207 or Ruth on 63448256. Photos:The group at the “Ochre Arch” an indigenous archaeological site.
