LOG CABIN GAINS GRANT FOR MUSIC SYSTEM Following the successful music nights that have been held recently in the hall, thanks to Jo & Craig; the hall has now been successful in gaining a grant to purchase an Amplifier. To host the music nights the hall had to hire equipment; this will mean we no longer have that fee and it is also a great asset for the hall and the community! REMEMBER... Next music night Friday 13 November

Great weather + great music + great company = GREAT NIGHT OUT Get in early with a booking and phone Jo & Craig on 6344 8166.

LANDCARE NEWS The next Landcare meeting is 7pm on Wednesday 14th October, 14.10.15. It is the AGM, but don’t let that put you off! It is also our first ”Home Grown Get Together”! All members are invited to bring along a dish to share featuring some home grown produce for a casual dinner and get together. Home grown or at least locally grown produce. From Pumpkin Soup to Cherry Pie! So much wonderful food is grown in our area. Of course food from the shops is fine too! There will be some prizes for exciting dishes. Please bring your own drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided as usual. Also plates and cutlery will be available and very limited heating up of food. Everyone is invited come along and join Landcare and take part in the Home Grown Get Together! Children are very welcome and if the weather is suitable we will sit outside. The AGM will take place after dinner. The November meeting will be on the evening of Armistice Day, 11.11.15. The special guest at this meeting will be Damon Oliver, “The Superb Parrot Man”. Damon is based in Canberra and is the Senior Team Leader for Ecosystems and Threatened Species, at the Office of Environment and Heritage. We will take a walk before the meeting and complete a Superb Parrot Survey as part of a community science program studying this spectacular looking and threatened green parrot. Superbs are slender, vivid green parrots with long tails. The male’s forehead and throat are bright yellow separated from the breast with a red band. They have a friendly “chuckling” call.

Mixed Nuts News. Extending a warm welcome to our newest members! On August 22nd we enjoyed a beautiful Saturday of felt hat-making with the addition of two visitors from Cowra, making beautiful felted slippers. A very productive day was had by all, with each of us taking home an amazing hat of our own creation (after adding extra 'bling'!) We enjoyed a scrumptious two course lunch on the verandah, courtesy of our multiskilled members. Thanks to everyone for a very successful day! Our hats took second prize for the Community Group Project at the Cowra Show. More hatmaking coming up for sure! With one of us having attended a recent two day workshop by world renown silk dyer Barbara Schey, we are now looking forward to a Summer workshop on Shibori Japanese resist-dyed silk scarves.
