MAJOR PAVEMENT ROADWORKS IN WEST COWRA
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) have scheduled major upgrade of the pavement starting from the west side of Cowra Bridge over Lachlan River, heading west. Preliminary work is scheduled for October 11 and 12 when the traffic islands will be removed. This will be carried out as night-time work. Daytime work commences on Monday, October 16, with contractors for RMS upgrading the pavement for approximately 410m of Grenfell Road. This will include the intersections with Boorowa Road and Young Roads. Work will run during daylight hours from Monday to Friday and will include removal of the existing pavement and replacement with new asphalt. Once work is completed, the traffic islands and line-marking will be replaced. Roadworks will be staged to ease congestion and to assist traffic flow. The work area has been divided into two with an east-bound lane into Cowra and west-bound lane to Grenfell.
Work is planned to take approximately three weeks to complete and access will be available to businesses throughout. Traffic control and signage will assist the public to traverse the worksite and maintain access to local businesses. Council thanks local drivers for their patience, for further enquiries, contact Cowra Council’s Infrastructure and Operations Department on 6340 2070.
