COUNCIL AT WORK COWRA SCULPTURE PARK

PRUNING TIME

Council’s Barry Francis and Allan Taylor are pictured here concreting in place one of two existing sculptures that were recently relocated from within the Japanese Gardens and placed into the Cowra Sculpture Park.

Council trainee, Sarah Burrell, working on the winter pruning at the Cowra Rose Garden.

The Cowra Sculpture Park Master Plan was adopted by Council in 2016 to enable the installation of public sculptures by nationally and internationally acclaimed artists located within the Cowra Peace Precinct. Located between the entrance to Bellevue Hill and the Japanese Garden, work undertaken to date includes the widening and extension of existing pathways and creation of new pathways at the site, the installation of new stone entrances and planting of several new trees. The relocation of these two sculptures to join the three existing sculptures in the park brings the establishment stage of the Sculpture Park landscape to completion. Procurement of additional sculptures will occur over a twenty year period via the Cowra Regional Art Gallery and the Gallery Advisory Committee.

Hosted by Cowra & District Historical Society
