RECYCLING MATTERS Handy hints from your Tidy Towns Committee — REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE About 47 per cent of Australian household waste is organic (food scraps and garden cuttings). This takes up extra space in landfill and creates methane gas when decomposing (accounting for three per cent of Australia’s total greenhouse gas emissions and is worse than CO2)
