The next round of Cowra Council’s $50,000 Community Grants Program is now open, with eligible individuals and community groups having until Friday 31 August 2018 to lodge applications. Applications for projects such as community gardens, environmental education, the construction of garden beds and re-vegetation are encouraged under the Natural Resource Management category which provides up to $1000 per grant.

In the last round of the program, a total of 19 local groups were presented with cheques ranging from $380–$2000 for projects including building, restoring, painting, sporting equipment, and the design of a new airport hangar. Groups applying must be not-for-profit, primarily volunteer run and based in Cowra Shire. Projects must also directly benefit the local community. NEW SHIRE ENTRY SIGNS PROVIDE A WARM WELCOME

If you’re heading into Cowra from Boorowa along the Lachlan Valley Way or Bathurst along the Mid Western Highway you’ll notice our new Cowra Shire signs have gone up to welcome visitors and residents heading home. Further Shire boundary signs are planned for the next financial year.

SCIENCE WEEK 2018

This event will feature special screenings of short films from the Science Hub Orange Cowra Cabonne + SCINEMA International Science Film Festival 2018.

A partnership between the Science Hub - Orange Cowra Cabonne, Natural Resource Management (NRM) Cowra, Cowra Council and The Office of Environment and Heritage, the event will be held at the Cowra Civic Centre on Friday 10 August from 7pm to 10pm.
