COUNCIL AT WORK — GIANT NEW LANDFILL AT MRF
The largest-ever landfill site at Cowra’s Coming on-line immediately, the facility is another Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) was example of how the MRF is future-proofing waste capacity in Cowra Shire. recently constructed at the facility. This major project was completed by Council’s Roads Construction crew utilising Council and some hired equipment. The landfill “cell” is approximately 115m long by 97m wide and approximately four metres deep and will hold over 50,000 cubic metres of waste. The extremely-high recycling rates achieved at Cowra’s MRF — comparable to the best recycling facilities in the State at more than 60 per cent of all material delivered — means that the new cell will likely last for 15–20 years.
