Movie, crafts, and gaming afternoon for Youth Week

Pictured with the 2017 State Cover Work Health and Safety Excellence Award and one of the drones are members of Council’s award-winning team, Risk Management Officer/Local Emergency Management Officer, Harvey Nicholson, and Information Services Officer, Andy Redgrave. Other members of the winning team include Works Engineer, Peter “Buck” Ford and Engineering Assistant, Lachlan Fuller. Presented last week at the State Cover conference in Sydney, the Excellence Award was a result of a Council staff initiative to utilise an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) to undertake regular inspections of water towers, quarries, and remote council assets to alleviate the risks of working at heights and to save time and resources. The drone utilises both high-definition photography and video with Council now extending its use to other high-risk Council work requirements.
