Mobile ads put “runs” on Council billboard Cowra Tidy Towns’ innovative new fund-raising project that helps promote local enterprises — The Mobile Billboard — is now up and “running”. The project involves Council’s recycling trucks newly-emblazoned with advertisements promoting local organisations and businesses. All money raised is going towards various projects to benefit the natural and social environment of the Shire’s residents that may include the unique Recycled Art for Cowra (RAFCA) competition in September; strategies to help improve recycling rates; a campaign to reduce food waste in the Shire; and practical assistance to other groups such as Cowra’s Urban Landcare Group and the Adventure Playground Committee. Tidy Towns Chair, Councillor Judi Smith is also making an appeal to residents interested in doing something for their local civic environment. “The Tidy Towns Committee is holding our annual general meeting on Wednesday, February 22 at 10.30am in Council’s public meeting room,” Judi said. “New members are always welcome, so come along for a chat and a morning tea; the committee is actively-looking to increase membership to expand its range of activities. Members promise you won’t get a job first up!” Judi added.
