Environmental launch of CLEAN project Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bill West on Wednesday launched the biomass recycling project being supported by Cowra Council at Cowra Wastewater Treatment Plant. The launch of the Cowra Low Emissions Action Network (CLEAN) Aggregated Biomass Co-Digestion (ABC) Trial seeks to utilise organic waste from agriculture and industry as a future energy source for rural communities. CLEAN Facilitator Dylan Gower spoke of the potential of the technology to recycle waste produce and provide power for towns like Cowra.
Road closures for Festival of International Understanding
Cowra Council apologises for the inconvenience these road closures associated with the Festival of International Understanding will create. Residents are encouraged to participate in all of these community events.

Darling St Road Closure for Festival Event — Friday 24 March
Festival opening tonight at Peace Bell Highlight of the Official Opening of the 2017 Festival of International Understanding on tonight, Friday, March 24 will be a performance from the renowned Rovesnik dancers from Belarus. Starting at 5pm, the Festival Peace Ceremony and Opening Reception will be at the Civic Centre and the Peace Bell in Darling Street. The event will also include Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bill West welcoming the Belarus Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Mr Viktar Shyk and his wife, Mrs Lilia Malinovskaya. Other highlights include the Festival Parade and the Carnival tomorrow, Saturday, March 25.
Saturday, April 1 will feature the “Colour Me Happy” 3km run at Bellevue Hill at 3pm, with the Cowra Festival Fun Run on Sunday, April 2 at Bellevue Hill. Residents are advised that Darling Street from the Kendal Street intersection to the Bartlett Avenue intersection will be closed to through traffic from 5pm to 7.30pm on Friday 24 March. The purpose of this road closure is to accommodate the annual Festival Peace Ceremony and Opening Reception that takes place in the vicinity of the Civic Centre and the Peace Bell. Access to Cowra Regional Art Gallery carpark will still be available.
Road Closures for Festival Parade — Saturday 25 March
Residents are advised that the following streets will be closed to traffic from 11am until approximately 12:45pm on Saturday 25 March: • Darling Street from Brougham to Kendal Street • Kendal Street from Darling to Macquarie Street • Macquarie Street from Kendal to Vaux Street • Vaux Street from Macquarie to Lachlan Street • Carobean Avenue from Lachlan Street to end The purpose of this road closure is for the 2017 Cowra Festival Parade which will be featuring in the main street. Floats will be marshalling at the Brougham Park end of Darling St at 11:30am, and this section of Darling St between Brougham St and Denman St will be closed to through traffic whilst the marshalling takes place. The parade will move off at 12:00pm along Darling St, and into Kendal St. The parade will then turn left into Macquarie St and right into Vaux St, terminating at River Park via Carobean Avenue. The Festival Carnival will take place at River Park (from approximately 1:00pm till 6:00pm). Whilst the road closure is underway a bypass along College Drive, Liverpool and Lachlan Street will be in place for through traffic.
Road Closures for Festival ‘Colour Me Happy’ Run — Saturday 1 April
Residents are advised that Binni Creek Road, from the Macassar Street intersection to the Pitt Street intersection will be closed to through traffic from 2pm until approximately 5pm on Saturday 1 April. The purpose of this road closure is for the 2017 Cowra Festival ‘Colour Me Happy’ Run.

Cowra Council is developing a Disability Inclusion Action Plan to make Cowra Shire, including its villages, as inclusive, connected and welcoming as possible for people of all ages with disability or who experience a chronic or mental health condition.You are invited to complete a survey to help determine the actions that will make a difference to improving access in the community.
