Local tradies urged to bid for Council tender work Local tradespeople and businesses should look at banding together to tender for important Cowra Council contracts for local projects, General Manager, Paul Devery said.

The projects are sometimes won by larger out-oftown contractors with established work histories and specialist staff for local government procurement, Mr Devery said. But this shouldn’t stop local small enterprises from “having a go” at some of these projects, Mr Devery said. “Providing projects to local tradespeople and businesses has a positive effect of helping local employment with money kept in our community,” Mr Devery said. “Local tradies could make joint bids for projects where their combined specialist skills, experience, and capability could more than compete against larger enterprises,” Mr Devery said. Council last year ran a course for local businesses explaining how to navigate the requirements of tendering for government contracts and the best way to make a bid for work.

The course covered project management and contract administration including how to prepare expressions of Interest (EOI); Quotations (RFQ); and Tenders (RFT) for a typical contract. “Any local businesses interested in learning how to bid on the the tenders listed in the above advertisement should contact Local Government Procurement,” Mr Devery said.
