Cowra Public School NEWS PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Dear Parents What a Term! From day one to the last, we have been incredibly busy and I thank everyone for their involvement with our school over the term. I want to congratulate our Kindergarten students who have displayed excellent progress in their first term of school and thank their parents for their strong commitment to their children’s learning. This week our school has been finalising the term with several Easter activities in preparation for the Easter Bunny arrival on Sunday. Our school held Combined Scripture activities and lessons during the week which were greatly received. Today the Infants classes held the wonderful spectacle that is the Easter Hat Parade with some amazing creations on display. Parents enjoyed this event nearly as much as the children and the sighting of the Easter Bunny at the Parade nearly caused a riot with the teachers trying to catch the elusive egg giver to no avail. An assembly was combined with this event and several students received their PBL certificates for 25, 50, 75 & 100 and even more Gotcha’s which is fantastic. Our senior school also had a very busy week and last day to finish off the term, with the Primary Cross

NSW Department of Education and Communities Country being held today. Mrs Duncan set a challenging course at River Park which involved the children running either 2 or 3 km’s. Our winners really impressed and will now go on to represent the school at District level next term. Last night Cowra Public School P&C held their Annual General Meeting. The 2015 executive team was elected with Rob Webster being President, Nigel Hazell Vice President, Cassie Gailey Treasurer, Miriam Kelly Secretary and Liz McKay Canteen Treasurer. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved over the last 12 months wi th the P&C and congratulate the team for their achievements. The school Fete was the largest event on the calendar for the P&C and its recent success really indicates the capability of this organisation. The next meeting of the P&C will be on the Thursday. 23 April starting at 6pm.

We say goodbye to Ms James today and wish her and her partner, Jono every joy in the expected delivery of their second child. Replacing Ms James will be Mr Chris Myles who has a wealth of experience in Library, IT and music. Lastly I would like to wish everyone a very happy and safe Easter and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday, 21 April.

The excursion will take place in Term 4 and more information will be sent out early Term 4. Depending on how much is raised, the final amount for the excursion could be revised. A Pie Drive order form is attached to this newsletter and as winter is fast approaching this is an excellent opportunity to stock your freezer with mouth watering pies from Roberts Bakery in Orange. Orders for the pies need to be in by Thursday, 14 May 2015 and the pies will be delivered to school on Friday 22 May 2015. There will be a prize for the most pies sold by a student.

STAGE 2 EXCURSION BLUE MOUNTAINS MONDAY, 31 AUGUST & TUESDAY, 1 SEPTEMBER 2015 Planning is well under way for the Stage Two overnight excursion to the Blue Mountains. The excursion involves travel by bus to Katoomba, a Discovery Rangers Tour, a visit to the Blue Mountains Cultural and World Heritage Exhibition Centre, a walk to see the Three Sisters, Scenic Cableway and Railway and a visit to the Jenolan Caves on the way home to Cowra. We will be staying overnight at the YMCA in Katoomba. The cost of the excursion will be approximately $170.00 per student. The final cost will depend upon the number of students who attend. The excursion is open to all students in Years 3 and 4, however, any students who do not show that they can be relied upon to act safely and responsibly may be excluded from the excursion. As soon as costing has been finalised, a more detailed note will be sent home with the itinerary and payment plans. Please complete the expression of interest slip that was sent home this week showing whether your child will or will not be participating in the excursion, and return it to your child’s teacher no later than Friday, 8 May.
