Dear Parents/Caregivers, I hope all CPS families had a wonderful Easter! Our Infants Easter Hat Parade last Thursday was a fantastic way to kick off the long weekend and the number of parents, friends and members of the community who lined Kendal Street to cheer on our students was amazing. The hats the children made at school were colourful and creative and they were all very excited to show them off! A big thank you must go to the Easter Bunny (aka Mrs Shavaughn Duncan) who enthusiastically led our parade and to all the Infants staff who donned bunny ears and got into the spirit of the event with the children! Improvements in the Infants building have continued this week with our painters working hard to complete the doors, window frames and classrooms. At this stage the painters are on schedule and should be finished painting by mid next-week. This week I received confirmation that the Infants building roof will be fully replaced and work on this will start in May. We also have had a proposed scope completed for a new security fence which is currently being assessed. These major capital works programs are a significant investment in the ongoing maintenance of our school and while they can be somewhat disruptive to our day-to-day operations, they are necessary for us to continue to provide the best learning environment for our students. I would like to thank the Infants staff and students for their patience and co-operation whilst these works are being completed. Congratulations to Mason Bright and Jett Cummings who trialled for the Western Region AFL Team last week. Both boys gave their all against some very strong competitors and Mason was successful in being named a member of the Western Region squad. We wish Mason the very best of luck as he competes in the State AFL Tournament later in the year. Tomorrow approximately 100 CPS students will be attending the Hockey Gala Day with around 500 other students from schools across our district. The Hockey Gala Day is a wonderful opportunity for students to play and develop their hockey skills in a non-competitive environment. All students attending are reminded that they must bring a mouthguard in order to play. Thank you to Miss Dunk, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Montgomery and Mr Riches for accompanying our students to this event. Tonight the school social will be held with all funds raised going towards the Stage 2 excursion to Sydney. Infants will run from 5:00pm-6:00pm and Primary from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Entry is just $2 at the door and the P&C will be running a canteen with delicious refreshments for sale. See you there! Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal

PAYMENT NOW DUE:

HEADSETS There are many occasions when students are using technology within our school, either on IPads or laptops where the experience is enhanced by wearing headphones. The school currently provides headsets to be shared by students, however, we would like to invite and encourage students to bring their own headphones to school. This will allow students to wear something that is fitted for them, making it more comfortable, as well as ensuring that they are the only ones to use that headset. The headsets can either be kept in student’s school bags to be taken home or stored in the classroom and left at school. If you would like to provide a set of headphones for your child, please clearly mark their name on the headsets and provide a clear plastic bag to store the headphones in.
