Western Choral Camp by Jemima Scammell and Lorissa Wood Last Monday I went to Western Choral/singing Camp with Eliza and Alice Mulligan, Hannah Mckay and Lorissa Wood. We stayed at Parklands Lodge/BIG4. I had a lovely time singing with other students in the western region. We had rehearsal for 2 and 1/2 days. On Wednesday we had rehearsal in the morning then a big concert. We sang 4 different songs with our wonderful conductor Mr Paul Jarman. He was very funny. In our spare time we went to the play room, watched movies, played board games and made new friends. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to sing!!

Being at the Choral camp was a great experience for me! The songs we sang were “Living in the Bush”, “This Golden Land” and for the finale “Take to the Sky”. They were all really great songs. At the end of the finales we threw paper planes out to the audience. Everyone caught the paper planes and opened them because it had a message that we wrote about why we love singing. After that we took the bus to the caravan park where we and other singers were staying at the lodge. We had a lot of fun staying at the lodge. On the second last day we all went to a really fun water park with Mrs Wright supervising us. That is just one of the fun things we did. Overall it was REALLY fun

Principal Report Dear Parents/Caregivers, Last weekend Cowra’s annual “Festival of International Understanding” kicked off with the spectacular street parade on Saturday. This year’s host country was Belarus and Cowra Public School was represented in both the parade, receiving first place for the “Best Float Featuring Children”, as well as the window display competition, where we were awarded Highly Commended awards for Stage 1, and Stage 2! Thank you to all the students and teachers who came along on Saturday dressed in Belarusian costume and participated in this important community event. On Monday the whole school was treated to a special performance by the visiting Belarusian Dance Troupe! The children, aged between 12 and 17 years, spent a week in Cowra and were billeted by local families. It was wonderful to have them visit our school and share their culture with us. The cricket game at River Park during lunchtime on Monday was a highlight and I thank Festival Coordinator; Kylie Wood for organising this visit with our school. This Friday our Stage 2 and 3 students have been invited to participate in the Hockey Gala Day to be held at the Cowra Hockey Fields. The Hockey Gala Day has been running for a number of years and offers students the opportunity to learn and develop their basic hockey skills before participating in a number of short, fun games with students from other schools in our area. A reminder to those students attending that they must have a mouthguard and long socks are recommended to hold shin pads in place; all other equipment will be provided. Thank you to Mr Vogel for organising our school’s participation in this event. Thank you to all CPS families who have provided Jazzy Jars, baked cakes and sold raffle tickets for our School Fete which is on tomorrow night! The P&C have put in a massive effort to get everything ready for what is sure to be a fantastic evening of family fun and entertainment! There will be a jumping castle, a “Haunted House”, art exhibitions, dancing and gymnastic displays, carnival rides, food stalls, a photo booth, putt-putt golf, sponge throwing; the list goes on and on! Be sure you tell your family and friends and come along to the CPS School Fete from 5pm-8pm! The P&C will be holding the final “Fete Meeting” tonight at the school starting at 6pm – all welcome. Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal
