It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of Term One! This week has been another busy week with Funky Hair Day held yesterday, raising much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. We now have our Infants Easter Hat Parade and March down Kendall Street on today and our PBL Reward day on Friday. I’m sure everyone is looking forward to the holidays and the opportunity to relax and recharge the batteries! What a wonderful evening we had last Friday night at the Cowra Public School Fete. The P&C committee certainly outdid themselves with the huge array of stalls, delicious food, exciting entertainment and fun and games for the whole family. The weather was perfect and the large crowd enjoyed all that was on offer. Thank you to the hardworking P&C who have worked tirelessly over the past few months to ensure the fete was such a huge success, and thank you to all the families who came along and supported our school. I hope the committee enjoy a well-deserved rest! Congratulations to our senior boys who tried out for the Western Region Rugby League team in Dubbo on Monday. I am sure that they all learnt more about the game and enjoyed the experience! Congratulations also to our swimmers – Lucy, Jada, Hannah and Imogen who are currently competing at the State PSSA Swimming Championships in Homebush. All of us at CPS wish you the very best! A big thank you also goes out to the parents who often juggle work and other commitments in order to transport and support their children at these events. It is greatly appreciated. This Friday we sadly say ‘farewell’ two of our long-serving staff members – Mrs Marilyn Crossley and Mrs Lynda Ryan. Marilyn has served Cowra Public School working as the School Administration Manager for the past 30 years, with outstanding professionalism, unwavering dedication and always with a smile on her face! On behalf of the school community, I would like to wish Marilyn the very best in her retirement – she will certainly be missed! Lynda will be taking some well-deserved Long Service Leave during Term 2 and we look forward to welcoming her back for one day per week in Term 3. Lynda’s outstanding commitment to educating the children of Cowra over the past 40 years is worthy of recognition and her sense of humour and fun will be missed by us all. As we wrap up the final week of Term One, I would like to acknowledge the fantastic efforts of the staff at Cowra PS and the wonderful progress the students have made so far this year. I hope all CPS families have a relaxing holiday and enjoy spending time with friends and family. School resumes for teachers on Monday 24th April. With Tuesday being ANZAC Day, all students will return to school on Wednesday 26th April. Have a great holiday! Jenny Lewis
