SCHOOL FETE
Congratulations to all CPS swimmers who travelled over to Dubbo last Friday to compete in the Western Region Swimming Carnival. There were many personal best times recorded on the day and lots of very close finishes! Special congratulations to Lucy Scammall, who placed in the top 3 in the100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly and to Imogen Chambers who finished 3rd in the 50m freestyle. Both girls now progress to the State PSSA Swimming Championships at Homebush in April! Along with Lucy and Imogen, Hannah McKay and Jada Buchan swam in the CPS Senior Girls relay team and took a huge 5 seconds off their time to place 1st, scoring them a spot in the State championships as well. Well done girls – we are very proud of you! Wednesday was school photo day and it was wonderful to see so many students beautifully dressed in their summer uniforms, with great big smiles ready for the camera! Cliff and Kay Dykes do a marvellous job each year with our school photos and we thank them for their professional service and high quality product. Information about how to order your child’s school photos online using a shoot key will be given shortly. If your child was away on photo day, don’t despair – a catch up photo day will be organised in the near future. I would like to congratulate Mrs Nicole Dickson, who this week has been appointed as Relieving Principal at Wyangala Dam Public School commencing in Term 2. Mrs Ryan will continue as D3 class teacher until the end of Term 1, after which Mr Vogel will teach D3 from Term 2 onwards. Parents of students in D3 received a letter yesterday informing them of these arrangements. Both Mrs Ryan and Mr Vogel will be working closely together to ensure the teaching program in D3 will continue as planned and there will be minimal disruption to the students’ learning. The School Fete is coming up in just a few weeks’ time. The P&C have been working very hard to organise exciting rides, delicious food and lots of fun and games for the whole family. The P&C will be holding a “Fete Meeting” tonight at the school starting at 6pm. If you are interested in helping out on a stall or just want to come along and share your ideas, please do – the more the merrier! Don’t forget FETE MEETING TONIGHT to mark Fete Day - Friday 31st 6PM Staffroom March - in your diaries!! Have a great week…

Our time at Stewart House—By David Simms, Montana Drage & Louise Hailstone When I went to Stewart House, I had a lot of fun making new friends and playing new games. We went to Taronga Zoo, Sydney Olympic Pool, swimming at the beach and playing footy on the sand. I liked my supervisors and teachers. We also went to the Power House Museum. Breakfast’s and dinners were good. We slept on bunk beds. We also went to the Manly Sea Eagles Stadium. David Simms
At Stewart House I went to SOPAC - The Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre and also Taronga Zoo. It was Fun. Montana Drage
At Stewart House, I had the time of my life. The places we went to were SOPAC, Australian Museum, Toronga Zoo, and the beach. At the zoo I got a photo with a zebra. At the beach I found seashells. Louise Hailstone

Awesome effort ladies! Hockey Gala day - Notes due Friday, 17th March The annual Cowra district hockey gala day will take place on Friday, 31st March (week 10). All primary students are invited to attend the Gala Day, which has proven to be a very enjoyable and
engaging day in the past.
Art excursion to the Cowra Regional Gallery with M1 & Primary students
Last Wednesday Mrs Myles, Mrs Long, Mrs Meiklejohn and Mr Duncombe accompanied M1 and a select group of primary students to the Cowra Regional gallery to attend the Archibald Exhibition. We are very privileged to have access to such an amazing exhibition, and all the students were very impressed with the many different ways that artists created their portraits. As we waited our turn in the gallery, our students were given a tour of our local library and were able to create their own artwork in the gallery’s multi-purpose room. Thank you to Ms Jacques Perry of the Cowra Gallery for her informative talk and tour to our students.

Kids Wanted for Cowra AFL Auskick
AFL Auskick is recommencing Friday 17 March. AFL Auskick has been designed to build the foundation skills for playing Australian Football, and all kids aged 10 and under are most welcome.
With Womens AFL and women’s sport generally taking off currently, it’s also a great chance for girls to get involved. Get down to AFL Auskick and have a kick and find out more about the local program. The session will start at 4:30pm and will involve a bit of a kick, a couple of skill drills, and a bit of a game. It’s all fairly casual with the emphasis on fun. There is no cost, but it would be good if players register if they plan to play regularly. Friday 17 March 4:30pm at Mulyan Oval, Bourke Street (finishes just on about 5:30pm).
