Cowra Public School NEWS PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
26 March 2015
Term 1, Week 9
Dear Parents Congratulations and thank you to all who contributed in making Cowra Public School fete such a success. It was not only one of the best fetes financially (approximately $13500 profit) but the variety and quality of activities and stalls was a testament to the commitment of a dedicated P & C, staff and community. Special thanks to Mrs Trish Long who coordinated the event. As we move into the last week of a very busy term we still have a number of events taking place. Our Stage 3 students will be commencing their Pie Drive. Whilst greatly assisting in reduction of costs for their excursion to Narrabeen Sport and Fitness Camp (now referred to as the Sydney Academy of Sport – Narrabeen) it also provides a wonderful backup for the freezer, particular as the winter months are approaching. Next Wednesday will be highlighted by the Combined Scripture assemblies leading into the Easter break and the Bandaged Bear Picnic. The Bandaged Bear Picnic event is organised by our very capable SRC students and they would like to invite all Cowra Public Students to bring in their favourite bear or stuffed animal, a picnic lunch and a donation to support
NSW Department of Education and Communities the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Many of our families have had to access the wonderful services of the Children’s Hospital and this enables us to express our appreciation and support the ongoing work of the hospital.
This is the last week for free delivery of school photos. If you are planning to place an order we would encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity for free delivery by ordering this week.
On Wednesday we will also be holding the P & C Annual General Meeting. The P & C works tirelessly for the benefit of students at our school and without its wonderful work our students would not have access to so many wonderful resources. We would encourage as many people as possible to attend the meeting and contribute their ideas and expertise.
Whilst we are awaiting information regarding the achievements of our State Swimming Championship representatives, Isabella Scammell, Anja Gower, Lucy Scammell, Hannah McKay, Jada Buchan and Eliza Mulligan we would like acknowledge Harlee Simms and his success at Rugby Union trials. It was a very competitive field and Harlee is to be congratulated on his successful trials. We look forward to hearing of his continued success.
On Thursday Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will be parading the Easter hats they have made in their classes. This will commence in the Auditorium at 9.30am and we will also take the opportunity to present our assembly awards at this time. Children are looking forward to a surprise visitor at the assembly! If your child requires an alternative to chocolate eggs or you do not wish them to participate please contact the classroom teacher by Tuesday, as this will assist greatly in our planning.
Again, our thanks to all for your contribution to the success of the fete. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
Brad Tom
